Badgers

Traevon Jackson’s three-pointer at the buzzer saved the Badgers 63-60 in Happy Valley against Penn State on Sunday afternoon.  Wisconsin struggled most of the afternoon against the Big Ten’s worst team.  UW finishes the regular season at 21-10 and 12-6 in the Big Ten.  With Michigan’s loss to Indiana on Sunday, the Badgers get the #4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and gets a first round bye in the conference tournament. They will play Friday at about 1:30pm against either Michigan or Penn State.

 

Stritch In NAIA D2 Final Four

The Cardinal Stritch University men’s basketball team will play Indiana Univeristy-Southeast Monday night in the NAIA Division II National Semifinals at Point Lookout, Missouri.  The 2nd ranked Wolves advanced to the first ever Final Four in school history with an 82-76 double-overtime win over Dordt College (IA) on Saturday.  UW-Green Bay transfer Derek Semenas scored 19 of is game high 22 points in the 2nd half and overtime periods in the victory.  A win by Stritch tonight sends them into Tuesday night’s NAIA D2 Championship Game against either #1 ranked William Penn (IA) or Grace (IN)

 

St. Mary’s Springs

The St. Mary’s Springs girls basketball team’s season ended on Saturday at the Sectional Final.  The Ledgers lost to The Prairie School 53-50.  The young Ledgers year ends on game short of the state tournament at 21-5.

 

Bucks

Monta Ellis scored 29 points as the Bucks won at Sacramento 115-113 on Sunday night.   The Bucks have won six of their last seven games.  Brandon Jennings added 16 points and 8 assists in the win.

 

Brewers Fall

The Giants beat the Brewers 6-1 in Cactus Cactus League action on Sunday.  Carlos Gomez went 2×2 in the game, lifting his Spring Training batting average to .533. The Brewers and Dodgers play this afternoon.  Coverage begins at 2:55pm on KFIZ.

 

USA Advances in WBC

The United States advanced to the 2nd round of the World Baseball Classic with a 9-4 win over Canada on Sunday.  Brewers reliever Jim Henderson gave up three runs in the 8th pitching for Canada while John Axford gave up a run in the 9th.  Jonathan Lucroy had an RBI single for the United States.  Ryan Braun went 1×5.

 

Kenseth Wins

Matt Kenseth won the NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Las Vegas on Sunday on his 41st birthday.  Kasey Kahne was 2nd and Brad Keselowski was 3rd.

 

Tiger Wins

Tiger Woods won the Cadillac Championship on the PGA Tour on Sunday.  He finished two shots better than Steve Stricker.
