NCAA Sweet 16

After a wild four days of college basketball the Sweet 16 is set for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.   Three of the four #1 seeds have made it through with Gonzaga being the only top seed getting bounced.    Louisville, Kansas, and Indiana all moved on.  As did Michigan State, Michigan, and Ohio State out of the Big Ten.  Three seeds double-digit seeds have made it through, including #15 seed Florida Gulf Coast who knocked off San Diego State last night.  #12 seed Oregon and #13 LaSalle also advanced to the quarterfinals.  Marquette is also in the Sweet 16. They will pay #2 seed Miami on Thursday at 6:15pm in Washington, DC

 

Phoenix Women Fall

The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team lost on the home floor of #6 seed LSU 75-71.  The Phoenix season ends at 29-3.

 

Bucks Lose

That Atlanta Hawks edged the Bucks 104-99 on Sunday afternoon at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  Missed free throws, turnovers, and missed shots doomed the Bucks down the stretch as they still sit in the 8th playoff spot in the East with a 34-35 record.  Monta Ellis had 20 while Ersan Illyasova chipped in 19 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Heat Streak Continues

The Miami Heat beat Charlotte 109-77 on Sunday to push their win streak to 26 games.

 

Brewers Spilt Games

The Brewers split a pair of games on Sunday. Wily Peralta gave up 6 runs and 10 hits in 5 and a third innings as the Padres beat the Brewers 6-4.  The Crew also beat the Rockies 7-5.  Mark Rogers gave up 2 runs and 2 hits in 3 innings. Alex Gonzalez drove in a pair in the win.  The Brewers play the A’s this afternoon.  Coverage begins at 2:55pm on KFIZ.

 

Badgers Hockey

After winning the WCHA Men’s Hockey Tournament, the Badgers found out they will play UMass-Lowell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at 3:30pm on Friday in New Hampshire.

 

NASCAR

Kyle Busch won the NASCAR Sprint Cup race in California on Sunday.  Denny Hamlin and Joey Lagano wrecked on the final lap.  Hamlin ended up in the hospital and Lagano and Tony Stewart ended up in a fight.

 

PGA Tour

Bad weather pushed the PGA Tour’s final round at Bay Hill to today.  Tiger Woods holds a three shot lead.
