The Green Bay Packers escaped Jacksonville with a 27-23 win over the Jaguars. Aaron Rodgers threw for two touchdowns and ran for another score. His first touchdown toss of the day went to Jordy Nelson and the other just before halftime in a precision strike to Davante Adams to give Green Bay a 21-17 lead at the break. Jacksonville pulled within four (27-23) on a 50 yard field goal by Jason Meyers with 5:13 to play and drove to the Packers 14 yard line with 23 seconds to play. On a fourth and 1, Jags receiver Allen Hurns was stopped short by Damarious Randall to seal the win for the Packers. Rodgers finished 20 of 34 for 199 yards and the two touchdowns, Eddie Lacy rushed 14 times for 61 yards. Randall Cobb led the team with 6 catches for 57 yards. The Packers are 1-0 and play at Minnesota next Sunday night.

Elsewhere in the NFC North on Sunday:

The Vikings got two touchdowns from their defense in the second half to turn a 10-0 halftime deficit into a 25-16 win over the Titans in Nashville. Eric Kendricks returned an interception of Marcus Mariota 77 yards for a score and Danielle Hunter had a 24 yard fumble return for a score for Minnesota. Blair Walsh netted four field goals in the win as well.

The Bears lost 23-14 to the Houston Texans at NRG Stadium in Houston. Chicago led 14-10 at the half, but two Nick Novak field goals and a touchdown pass from Brock Osweiler to Will Fuller helped Houston pull out the win. Jay Cutler went 16 of 29 for 216 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the loss. The Bears host Philadelphia next Monday night.

A 43 yard field goal from Matt Prater lifted the Lions over the Colts 39-35 in Indianapolis. Detroit led 28-18 at the end of the 3rd quarter before the Colts mounted a rally to tie the game at 28 and then take a 35-34 lead on an Andrew Luck touchdown pass with 37 seconds to play. Detroit then mounted a 5 play 50 yard drive in 33 seconds to take the lead at 37-35. The Colts gave up a safety on the last play of the game on an illegal pass in the end zone to make the final score 39-35. The Lions will host Tennessee in week 2.

The Badgers football team rose again in the rankings in both the USA Today/Amway Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Top 25 after their 54-10 win over Akron on Saturday. Wisconsin finds themselves up four spots in the coaches poll to number 12 and up one spot in the AP poll to number nine.. The Badgers host Georgia State at Camp Randall on Saturday.

A solo home run from Ryan Braun in the top of the ninth broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Brewers to a 2-1 win over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Braun went 2 for 4 in the game. Tyler Thornburg picked up the win, he’s now 6-5. The Brewers stay on the road with a three game set at Cincinnati beginning tonight. No broadcast on KFIZ due to Monday Night Football.
