High School Football Playoffs: Level 3

Division 1: Kimberly 32, Fond du Lac 29. 

Danny Vanden Boom connected with Brett Verstegen for a short touchdown with 1:14 left in the game to put Kimberly ahead. On the ensuing drive, the Cardinals’ last pass fell incomplete on 4th and 5 from their own 35 yard line to end the game. Fond du Lac led 14-13 at halftime and surged ahead late 29-26 on a 14 yard run by Colton Wasieleski before Kimberly’s final scoring drive. The Cardinals finish the season 9-3 overall. Kimberly is now 12-0 and have won 54 consecutive games. Kimberly will play Stevens Point in the State Semifinals next week. 

Division 5: Amherst 44, Winnebago Lutheran 27

Eric Schmitz threw for a score and ran for another as WLA came up short against the defending Division 5 State Champions. The Vikings finish the season 9-3. 

Division 6: St. Mary’s Springs 37, Ozaukee 14

Fintan Floyd ran for three touchdowns and Clay Schueffner ran for two of his own as the Ledgers built a 30-0 halftime lead en route to their win. St. Mary’s Springs advances to play Darlington in Level 4 of the playoffs next week. 

Boys Soccer: 

WIAA Division 4 State Championship Game

Winnebago Lutheran vs. Racine St. Catherine’s. 1:30 pm today at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. 

Men’s College Hockey: 

Marian 5, Lawrence 2. The two teams meet again tonight at Lawrence, 7pm puck drop 

Women’s College Hockey: 

Marian 2, Concordia-Wisconsin 1

College Football: Badgers are on the road at Northwestern. Pregame at 9am, kickoff at 11 on KFIZ.
