Fond du Lac High’s Erin Cole and Emily Nett lost to Ali Bublitz and Ann Porritt 7-5, 6-1 in the 2nd round of the WIAA State Tennis Tournament on Friday morning in Madison. Cole and Nett finish the season with a record of 14-10. The Cardinal Nicole Feltz dropped her first round match on Thursday night to finish her year at 31-2.
The WIAA released the grouping for the football playoff brackets early this morning. The coaches will get together and seed the brackets this morning with brackets set to be released early this afternoon. Here’s was the local area teams pods look like.

Fondy Falls in Finale
The Menasha Blue Jays sent the Fond du Lac football team to the offseason with a 21-6 win at Fruth Field on Friday night. After recovering an onside kick to start the game, Menasha jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a Josh Mennon TD run. Mennon added another TD run in the 2nd quarter to make it 14-0 at the half. The Blue Jays extended their lead to 21-0 on a Tyler Korth 10 yard TD run in the 3rd quarter. Fondy’s only score came in the 2nd half when Jack Nejedlo hit John Gaskell on a 61 yard TD pass. Fondy’s year ends at 3-5 overall and 2-5 in the VFA South. Menasha will be in the playoffs with a 5-2 mark in the league and a 6-2 overall record.
Ledgers Roll To Title
St. Mary’s Springs completed a perfect regular season with a 68-7 win at Lomira on Friday night. The Ledgers were up 20-0 before their offense took a snap. Darin Ward returned the opening kickoff for a TD, Ryan Grandlic returned an interception for a score and Mitch Herron recovered a fumble in the end zone. The Ledgers built a 48-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 61-0 at the half. Lomira got on the board in the 3rd quarter when RB Garrett Keller rumbled 93 yards for a TD. The Ledgers improve to 8-0 overall. Lomira’s season ends at 0-8.

Cardinals Advance to NLCS
The St. Louis Cardinals are back in the National League Championship Series. The Cardinals rallied from an early 6-0 deficit to beat Washington 9-7 in the NLDS. St. Louis scored 3 runs in the top of the 9th to complete the greatest comeback in a deciding playoff game in baseball history. Game one of the NLCS is set for tonight in San Francisco.
Yanks Move On
The New York Yankees scored single runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th to advance to the American League Championship Series with a 3-1 win over the Orioles last night. Yankee skipper Joe Girardi benched superstar Alex Rodriguez for the game and started Eric Chavez at 3rd. He went 0x3 with 2 Ks. No rest for the Yankees as they host Game One of the ALCS this afternoon against Detroit.
Badgers on KFIZ
The Badger football team is in West Lafayette this morning for a Big Ten Leaders Division matchup with Purdue. With Ohio State no eligible for post season play, today’s winner will have the inside track to the Big Ten Championship Game in December. Coverage begins at 9am with the kickoff set for 11am.
The Packers are going to be without WR Greg Jennings on Sunday night when they travel to Houston. The team officially ruled him out of the game. TE Jerimichael Finley and NT BJ Raji will be game time decisions. Coverage begins at 5pm with the kickoff set for 7:30pm on KFIZ.
NFL on KFIZ
With the Packers playing in prime time on Sunday, we’ll still have NFL action on KFIZ Sunday afternoon as the Lions take on the Eagles. Coverage begins at 11:30am with the kickoff set for noon.
Bucks Host Detroit
The Bucks host Detroit tonight in a preseason game at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. Coverage begins at 7:10pm with the tip at 7:30m on KFIZ.
