--Mitch Waechter threw for two touchdowns and ran for another score, while Cade Christensen ran for two touchdowns and caught another as the Ledgers dominated Laconia at Fruth Field.

--The Oaks clinch the Great Eight Conference Championship with the win.

Girls Volleyball:


Fond du Lac won the Janesville Craig Invite on Saturday, going 5-0 in the tournament. The Cardinals had wins over Janesville Craig, Janesville Parker, Whitewater, Waterloo and Evansville. Emily Thompson had 102 assists for the Cardinals, Monica Dreifuerts had 34 kills, Megan Wendt 30 kills. Emily Thompson added 15 aces.


Laconia took third place at the Oshkosh North Invite on Saturday. The Spartans lost to Edgerton 2-1, defeated Green Bay NEW Lutheran 2-1, defeated Roncalli 2-0, lost to Oshkosh North 2-1 and defeated Waupaca 2-1.


Hailey Bartz had 81 assists for the Spartans, Kennedy Krohn 30 kills and 11 aces, Haley Rens 48 digs, Alissa Dins had 15 blocks.


Central Wisconsin Christian took second place at their home invite. The Crusaders lost to Random Lake 2-1, defeated Fall River and Westfield 2-0 and lost in the championship match to Living Word Lutheran 2-1.


Cross Country:


From Friday, the Fond du Lac boys took fifth place at the Fond du Lac Memorial Cross Country Invite at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Kiernan Koepke placed sixth individually with a time of 16:24.


The Fond du Lac girls took 8th place at the same invite on Friday at Rolling Meadows Golf Course. Liz Ziegler finished in 8th place individually with a time of 19:36. Madison Hughes placed 12th with a time of 19:42.


From Friday: North Fond du Lac/Oakfield competed at the Nightfall Classic at Wisconsin Dells. The boys team placed third in Division Two, with Diego Charbonneau placing third individually (16:42) and Xavier Lasee 16th (17:33).


The North Fondy girls placed 9th, led by Faith Peebles who placed 14th individually (20:51).


College Football:

Wisconsin 33, Northwestern 24

--Jonathan Taylor ran for 80 yards and two scores as the Badgers rallied from a halftime deficit and held off a late charge by Northwestern to win the conference opener at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday. Wisconsin trailed 10-7 at halftime, but rallied to take a 31-10 lead with 9:54 left to play in the game. After two Northwestern touchdowns, D’Cota Dixon sacked Wildcats quarterback Clayton Thorson in the end zone for a safety with 58 seconds left to give the Badgers a nine-point cushion. Dixon’s sack was his second of the day, and part of 10 for the Badgers defense on the day. Wisconsin travels to Nebraska next Saturday.

--Brett Kasper threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns, two to Sam Mentkowski as the #3 Titans defeated the Warhawks at Titan Stadium. Mentkowski had 10 catches for 207 yards, including a 96 yard score on the Titans’ first drive of the game that was the longest pass play in school history. Oshkosh hosts Stevens Point next Saturday.

Men’s College Golf:


Marian finished in 11th place at the Hopkins Collegiate Classic in Decatur, Illinois after shooting a 317 as a team. Jake Sherwood led the Sabres with a 146, after a round two score of a 72.


Women’s College Golf:


Marian sits in sixth place after the second round of the NACC Championship Taylor Wise is in third place individually after shooting an 88 on day two. Her two-day total is a 175.

National League:


St. Louis 7, Milwaukee 6

--The Brewers blew a 6-0 lead in their loss to St. Louis on Saturday afternoon and fall out of the race for the second National League wild card spot. Orlando Arcia went 3 for 4, Domingo Santana 3 for 5 with a three-run home run in the loss. With the Brewers’ loss, Colorado clinches the second Wild Card spot in the National League. The final game of the season is this afternoon, coverage begins at 1:40 pm, first pitch at 2:15 on KFIZ.
