Fond du Lac wins the Point Invitational at UW-Stevens Point. Noah Tagliapietra (3,200) and the Cardinals’ 4X400 meter dash both take first place at the meet.
The WIAA Boys State Basketball Championships were held Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison. Here are the results in this year’s game:
Division 5: Barneveld 58, Shullsburg 28
Division 4: Milwaukee Destiny 76, Darlington 55
Division 3: Xavier 73, Prescott 47
Division 2: La Crosse Central 55, Cedarburg 53
Division 1: Stevens Point 85, Arrowhead 56

Men’s College Basketball:
Wisconsin 65, #1 Villanova 62
--Nigel Hayes scored 19 points, Bronson Koenig 17 as the Badgers stunned #1 overall seed and defending National Champion Villanova in Buffalo, New York. Hayes’ layup with 12 seconds left put the Badgers ahead and Vitto Brown made one of two free throws at the line to seal the Wisconsin win. The Badgers advance to the Sweet 16 for the fourth straight year and will face Florida on Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Florida defeated Virginia 65-39 in their second round matchup on Saturday.

Ripon College senior Ty Sabin was named to the D3Hoops.com All-America First Team on Saturday. Sabin led all players in Division 3 in scoring, averaging 30.7 points per game for the Red Hawks. Sabin scored at least 50 points in a game twice this season, including a single-game school record 53 points against Loras College, part of Ripon’s run to a Midwest Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.

--The Sabres finish their spring trip with a 9-1 record and sit at 12-2 overall.
Milwaukee 13, Chicago Cubs 7--Travis Shaw went 3 for 4 with a double as the Brewers defeated the Cubs in Cactus League action. Milwaukee faces San Francisco this afternoon.
