High School Football:

8-Man:

Oakfield 44, Phillips 26

–Eric Jacob threw for 347 yards and four touchdowns as the Oaks moved to 2-0 on the season with a win over Phillips. Brandon Williams caught 11 passes for 208 yards and three scores in the win.

Girls Volleyball:

Winnebago Lutheran competed at the Reedsville Tournament on Saturday. In pool play, WLA defeated Algoma 2-0 (25-14, 25-22) and Kiel 2-0 (25-16, 25-20). Then in the gold bracket, the Vikings defeated Weyauwega-Fremont 27-25 and then lost to Chilton 2-0 (22-25, 21-25). Jena Krueger totaled 18 kills for WLA, Lexi Liveri had seven aces and Hailey Becker had 61 assists.

North Fond du Lac went 0-2 at their home invitational. The Orioles lost to Stockbridge 3-0 (22-25, 22-25, 18-25) and Horicon 3-1 (9-25, 12-25, 25-17, 18-25). Jasmine Spittel had 19 kills and five aces for NFDL, Ashley Now had 19 digs and 35 assists.

Fond du Lac goes 1-2 at the ‘Tosa Invite at Wauwatosa West High School. The Cardinals defeat Wauwatosa West 4-3, and lose to Sun Prairie 4-3 and Manitowoc Lincoln 5-2.

NFL Preseason:

Denver 20, Green Bay 17

–Brett Hundley threw for 186 yards and ran for a score, Ty Montgomery adding a rushing touchdown of his own in the loss for the Packers in Denver Saturday night. Aaron Rodgers played two series and went 3 for 5 through the air for 12 yards. The game was tied at 10 at halftime, but the Packers couldn’t find enough offense to tie the game or pull out a win late after Denver scored 10 points in the 3rd quarter. The Denver defense made it tough for the Packers, totaling five sacks in the game. The Packers return home for their final preseason game on Thursday against the LA Rams.

Milwaukee 3, LA Dodgers 0

–A two-run home run from Orlando Arica in the fifth inning and a run-scoring double from Neil Walker in the eighth backed up a quality start from Zach Davies as the Brewers defeated the Dodgers on Saturday night in Los Angeles. Davies threw seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out seven. The final game of the series is this afternoon, Jimmy Nelson gets the start for the Brewers while the Dodgers will send Yu Darvish to the mound. Coverage begins at 2:35 pm, first pitch at 3:10 on KFIZ.
