WIAA Boys Soccer Tournament 

Division 3 Regional Championship: 

Appleton Xavier 3, Waupun 0

Division 4 Regional Championships: 

Winnebago Lutheran 4, Beaver Dam Wayland Academy 1 (OT)

St. Lawrence Seminary 6, St. Mary Catholic 0

Both teams are regional champions. Winnebago Lutheran will host Sturgeon Bay in the sectional semifinal on Thursday. St. Lawrence will host either Omro or Oshkosh Lourdes/Valley Christian in their sectional semifinal Thursday. 

Boys Volleyball; 

Fond du Lac competed in the Homestead High School Invite in Mequon on Saturday. In pool play the Cardinals lost to Brookfield East and Nicolet and defeated Greendale, advancing them to the consolation bracket. In the consolation bracket, Fond du Lac defeated Golda Meier/St. Mary’s and Homestead and lost in the consolation championship 2-1 to Whitefish Bay. 

Girls Volleyball:

WIAA Division 2 Regional Championship: 

Chilton 3, Berlin 0 (25-13, 25-12, 25-14). Chilton will play Little Chute in the sectional semifinals at Waupaca on Thursday. 

WIAA Division 4 Regional Championship:

Living Word Lutheran 3, Central Wisconsin Christian 0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-18)

WIAA Cross Country Sectionals

Division 1 Cross Country Sectionals (From Friday): 

Fond du Lac Boys finish 3rd with 88 points. Noah Tagliapietra takes first place individually and qualifies for the state meet. 

The Fond du Lac Girls finish 4th at the D1 sectionals. Liz Ziegler finishes 4th individually to qualify for the state meet. Madison Hughes finished 5th individually to qualify for state. 

Division 2 Cross Country Sectionals (From Friday): 

Waupun boys finish 5th at D2 sectional in Mayville. Kyle Miller finishes 2nd individually and qualifies for state. 

Area teams in the boys’ D2 sectionals: North Fond du Lac/Oakfield 8th, Lomira 13th, Mayville 15th, Campbellsport 16th. 

Area teams in the girls’ D2 sectional at Mayville: Lomira 5th, Mayville 6th, Waupun 7th, North Fond du Lac/Oakfield 8th, Campbellsport 12th. 

Lomira’s Marin Reed finishes 3rd individually and Waupun’s Peyton McGinnis finishes 4th individually. Both qualify for the state meet. 

Division 3 Cross Country Sectionals: (Saturday)

St. Mary’s Springs girls finish 3rd at the sectional meet at Manitowoc Lutheran. The Ledgers qualify for state as a team. 

Winnebago Lutheran girls finish 13th at the D3 sectional meet at Manitowoc Lutheran. Sarah Niehueser finishes 5th and qualifies for state. 

The Laconia boys finish 7th in the D3 sectional meet at Amherst. The Laconia girls finish 5th. Cyna Madigan finishes 4th individually and qualifies for state. 

College Football: 

Big Ten

Wisconsin 17, Iowa 9. 

Corey Clement carried the ball 35 times for 134 yards and one touchdown as the Badgers defeated Iowa at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. The win is the Badgers’ fourth straight in Iowa City, dating back to 2010. Wisconsin held Iowa to just 83 yards rushing and outgained Iowa 423-236 in the win. The Badgers move to 5-2 and will host West Division leader Nebraska next Saturday.

National League Championship Series: Chicago Cubs 5, LA Dodgers 0. Chicago wins the series 4-2. The Cubs return to the World Series for the first time since 1945. The fall classic begins on Tuesday in Cleveland.
