The WIAA Girls Volleyball Tournament resumes tonight with the Sectional Semifinal round.

In Division Three, top-seed Winnebago Lutheran will face crosstown rival St. Mary’s Springs in a game played at Laconia High School. The winner will advance to Saturday’s Sectional Championship game to be played at Dodgeland HS.

The WIAA Boys Soccer Tournament continues tonight with Sectional Semifinal games as well.

In Division Four, Winnebago Lutheran will host Wayland Academy in a sectional semifinal game at the Fondy Soccer Complex at 5:30 pm. The winner advances to Saturday’s Sectional Championship game at Lomira against the winner of the semifinal between Sturgeon Bay and St. Lawrence Seminary.

Laconia Spartans head football coach Mark Madigan has been named the Green Bay Packers Coach of the Week. Madigan led the Spartans to a 26-14 upset win over second-seeded Southern Door last Friday in the first round of the Division Five playoffs last Friday. The Spartans look to continue their playoff run with a win over sixth-seeded Valders on the road on Friday.

Men’s College Soccer:

Marian 2, Edgewood 1

–The Sabres will play as the #6 seed in the NACC Tournament this weekend with a game at Benedictine Saturday night.

Women’s College Soccer:

Marian 1, Edgewood 0

–The Sabres extend their win streak to five games. They’ll compete in the NACC Tournament Sunday afternoon as the #5 seed against Concordia-Wisconsin on the road.

College Basketball:

The Marian Men’s Basketball team has been picked to finish seventh in the NACC preseason poll. The league’s coaches and Sports Information Directors tabbed Aurora to win the league, with the Spartans receiving 16 first place votes. Concordia of Wisconsin was picked second and Benedictine third. The Sabre men open on the road at the UW-Stout tournament on November 17th.

The Marian Women’s basketball team was picked 11th in the NACC preseason poll. The league’s coaches and Sports Information Directors picked Concordia-Wisconsin to repeat as league champions this year, with the Falcons receiving 14 first place votes. Wisconsin Lutheran was picked second and Benedictine third. The Sabre women open at home against Lawrence on November 15th.

Major League Baseball:

World Series (Game 2):

Houston 7, LA Dodgers 6 (11 Innings)

–The Astros trailed 3-1 entering the eighth inning, but mounted a late-inning rally to tie and eventually win game two of the World Series in Extra Innings at Dodger Stadium to even the series at one game apiece. George Springer’s home run in the 11th capped a four-homer barrage that helped the Astros get back into the game. Game three is Friday in Houston.

Sports on the air tonight: at 6pm its the Paul Chryst Show and after 7pm its Bucks Basketball as Milwaukee hosts Boston in their “Return to the Mecca” game from UW-Milwaukee’s Panther Arena. Hear both on KFIZ.
