The WIAA Boys Basketball playoffs continue in our area tonight.

In Division 3, top-seed Ripon will face second-seeded Waupun in a sectional semifinal game at West Bend. Tipoff time is 7pm. The winner advances to the sectional championship game on Saturday afternoon at Whitefish Bay against Martin Luther. Martin Luther defeated Dominican 59-45 in their sectional semifinal Wednesday night.

Also in Division 3, top-seed New Holstein hosts second-seeded Valders in a sectional semifinal game at Menasha. Tipoff time is 7pm. The winner advances to the sectional championship game Saturday evening at Kaukauna, against either Xavier or Little Chute.

The WIAA Girls State Basketball Tournament begins today at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon. Today’s action begins with the Division 3 state semifinals at 1:35 pm, then the evening session features the Division 4 semifinals beginning at 6:35 pm.

Former Wisconsin Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bo Ryan will be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame this fall. Ryan is part of the seven member class that will be inducted November 19th in Kansas City. Ryan won 747 career games, including a school-record 364 games as the head coach of the Badgers. His teams also made 27 postseason appearances, including four national championships at UW-Platteville and 14 straight NCAA Tournament appearances at Wisconsin, with two final fours.

Joining Ryan in the class of 2017 are  Wake Forest star Tim Duncan, Gonzaga’s John Stockton, Duke standout Jay Williams, Winston-Salem State’s Cleo Hill, Indiana’s Scott May, Purdue star Rick Mount and Creighton’s Paul Silas.

Big Ten Tournament:

Penn State 76, Nebraska 67 (OT)

–Penn State plays Michigan State in the second round this afternoon.

Rutgers 66, Ohio State 57

–The Scarlet Knights advance to play Northwestern in the second round tonight.

Other games in the Big Ten Tournament today, #8 Illinois vs. #9 Michigan and #7 Iowa vs. #10 Indiana.

Today the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament get undereway at Madison Square Garden. Marquette owns the 4th seed and will play #5 seed Seton Hall at 1:30 this afternoon.

NBA: Milwaukee 104, NY Knicks 93

–Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 32 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Bucks won their fourth straight game. Milwaukee will host Indiana on Friday night.

MLB:

–Spring training action continues today as the Brewers face San Diego. Coverage on the Brewers Radio Network begins at 1:55 this afternoon on KFIZ.

NFL: The Packers have re-signed punter Jacob Schum. Schum played in all 16 regular season games plus all three postseason games for Green Bay last season after coming over from Tampa Bay. In regular season action, Schumm recorded a net average of 39.1 yards on 56 punts, landing 19 punts inside the 20 yard line. In the postseason his net average went up to 43.5 yards with 11 punts landing inside the 20 yard line.
