--Eric Thames, Travis Shaw and Jonathan Villar all hit home runs as the Brewers beat the Rockies at Miller Park to earn their first win of the 2017 campaign. Wily Peralta tossed five shutout innings to earn the win, Neftali Feliz struck out the only batter he faced in the ninth to earn the save. The teams wrap up their series this afternoon, pregame coverage begins at 12:05 on KFIZ.

The Brewers have claimed utilityman Nick Franklin off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays. To make room on the 40-man roster Wednesday, the Brewers designated right-hander Michael Blazek for assignment. Franklin is expected to report to the Brewers on Friday when they open a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs. At that point, a player will need to be trimmed from Milwaukee's 25-man roster. Franklin hit .270 with six home runs and 26 RBIs in 60 games last season for the Rays. For his career, the switch-hitter has batted .219 with 22 home runs and 84 RBIs in 234 games. Blazek was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs this spring. He was 3-1 with a 5.66 ERA in 41 games for Milwaukee last season.

Golf: The status of top-ranked Dustin Johnson for the Masters appeared to be in question yesterday after he took a serious fall down a staircase at the home he is renting during the tournament. His agent says Johnson landed very hard on his back and is treating it with ice and medication while staying immobile. The agent said yesterday that it was uncertain whether Johnson would be able to play at Augusta National.

The final Masters practice was suspended early in the afternoon with severe storms bearing down on Augusta National. The weather washed out the popular par 3 contest, two days after the course was forced to close because of heavy rains. Fans were ordered to leave the course as a line of dangerous storms and the threat of tornadoes swept across the Deep South. The forecast is more promising through the rest of the week, though high winds today and Friday could make the playing conditions challenging
