The Packers are in Kansas
City
for their final preseason game against the Chiefs
tonight.  It’s a big game for the back
half of the rosters as the team must trim the team from 75 to 53 by this
weekend.  It’s not known if or how much
Aaron Rodgers will play tonight.

The Washington Redskins have announced that Robert Griffin
III will start the opener on September 9th against the Eagles.  RGIII torn multiple ligaments in his right
knee in the playoff loss to Seattle
last season.

 

The Badgers open the season on Saturday when they host Massachusetts at Camp Randall
Stadium.  Coverage begins at 9am with the
kickoff set for 11am on KFIZ..  You’ll
hear the Jerry Schneider Show right after Badger football on KFIZ.

 

Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel will have to sit out
the first  half of Texas A&M’s opener
against Rice this weekend.  The NCAA
couldn’t prove Manziel took money to sign autograph’s but suspended him for
allowing his likeness to be used for a commercial purpose.  ‘

 

The Pirates clubbed the Brewers 7-1 on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh.  Newly acquired Marlon Byrd homered and drove
in three for Pittsburgh.  Tom Gorzelanny gave up 9 hits and 4 runs in 5
and a third innings of work to take the loss. 
Charlie Morton pitched into the 7th to get the win.  The series wraps up tonight Yovani Gallardo
takes on Garrit Cole.

 

We’ve got a pair of high school football games on Friday
night on the Mountain Dog Media family of networks.  On KFIZ, Fond du Lac travels to 2nd ranked
Kimberly.  Coverage begins at 5:35pm with
the Backyard Grill Kickoff Show.  The
game kicks off at 7pm.  On K107.1-FM, St. Mary’s Springs hosts Wautoma.   That game kicks off at 7pm at Fruth Field.
