The high school
football season kicks off tonight in some parts of the state.  St. Mary’s
Springs Academy begins defense of their Division Six State
Championship as they head to fellow D6 heavyweight Shiocton.  You’ll hear that game on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 6:30pm tonight with the
Tim Cruz Agency American Family Insurance Pregame Show.  The kickoff is set for 7pm.  The game will also stream at KFIZ.com.  The rest of the area wills start their season
on Friday night, including Fond du Lac
traveling to Appleton East and Winnebago Lutheran on the road at Lakeside
Lutheran.  You’ll also hear the Fondy
game on KFIZ.

 

The Fond du Lac girls tennis team went 2-1 at the
Oshkosh North Invitational on Wednesday. 
Kellie Hierl went unbeaten at #3 singles for the day.  The Cardinals host a quad on Friday at 9am.

 

Ryan Braun became the Brewers
all-time home run leader with a solo blast in the 6th helping the
Brewers to an 8-6 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.  Braun’s home run was his 252nd
career blast, which passes Robin Yount. 
Khris Davis also hit a pair of home runs in the win.  Wily Peralta picked up the win despite giving
up six runs and 9 hits in five innings of work. 
Francisco Rodriguez picked up save #30. The Brewers take today off then
open up a three game weekend series with the Nationals in Washington, DC
on Friday night.

The Philadelphia Phillies traded
veteran 2B Chase Utley to the the LA Dodgers for a couple of minor leaguers.

 

The Packers will practice at
11:45am this morning as they get ready for their preseason game with the
Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday in Pennsylvania.  There will be no public workouts on Friday or
Saturday.  Sunday’s game kicks off at Noon.  Our coverage begins at 10am on News-Talk 1450

Marquette’s men’s basketball team finished up their trip across
Europe with a 132-75 win over a team in Switzerland. Duane Wilson had 21
points while Luke Fischer added 20 points and 11 rebounds in the win.  The Golden Eagles were 4-0 on their trip.

 

Brookfield’s Kyle Henning won the 95th Wisconsin
State Open at University Ridge in Madison
on Wednesday.  Henning finished the three
round event at -10.   Fond du Lac’s Joe DuChateau finished in 7th
place at four-under-par, six shots off the pace.
