After 9 solid seasons
the Green Bay Packers have cut linebacker AJ Hawk.  The move frees up about $3.5 million dollars
in salary cap space for the team.  Hawk
was the 5th overall pick in the 2006 draft out of Ohio State
and is the team’s all-time leader in tackles. 
He made the Pro Bowl in 2010.  They
also cut inside linebacker Brad Jones last week, which cleared up another $3.75
million in cap space.  

 

The Bucks blew by Philadelphia 104-88 on Wednesday night at the BMO Harris
Bradley Center
.
John Henson came off the bench to score 21 while Khris Middleton added 19.  Michael Carter-Williams got the start in his
Bucks debut and scored 7 points and dished off 8 assists.  Milwaukee
heads out on a west coast road trip starting Friday night against the LA
Lakers.  You’ll hear it on KFIZ.

 

Butler beat Marquette
73-52 last night down in Indianapolis.  Luke Fischer paced the Golden Eagles with 17.
 Marquette
travels to Providence
on Sunday.

 

Both Green

and Milwaukee
are in action in the Horizon League tonight. 
Green Bay
visits UIC for a 7pm tip.  Milwaukee is at Wright
State
.  That game tips at 6pm.

 

A pair of area high
school hockey players are finalists for the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches
Association Mr. Hockey Award.  That’s
given annually to the state’s top senior hockey player.  Fond du Lac High’s Jack Nejedlo and St. Mary’s
Springs’ Conner Blank are both among the 8 finalists for the award.

 

The WIAA State
Individual Wrestling Tournament begins today with preliminary action.  A handful of area wrestlers have qualified
for the WIAA State Individual Tournament. 
Fond du Lac
sends Josh Adams (145), Jason Toshner (195), and Donte Johnson (285) in
Division One. In D2, Campbellsport’s Alex Costello is at state again at 113.
Also in D2, Chilton-Hilbert sent Abe Sell (120), Nick Ditter (132), Austin
Keuler (145), and Duncan Calnin (195) to state. 
In Division Three, Laconia’s
Alex Potter (120), Zach Coffeen (152), Eli Moses (195), and Zach Foth (113)
made it.  Oakfield’s Ross Ellison also
made it at 128.

against Kimberly tonight.  The
