The Twins stopped the Brewers 6-4 last night in Minnesota.  Aramis Ramirez hit a three run homer in the 7th to tie the game at 4, but then Minnesota rallied for two of their own to grab the win.  Rob Wooten took the loss in relief of Marco Estrada. The series wraps up tonight in Minnesota as Wily Peralta takes on Kevin Corriea.    Coverage begins at 6:35pm with the first pitch set for 7:10pm on KFIZ

Longtime Major League coach Don Zimmer died Wednesday at the age of 83.  He spent 66 years in baseball as a player, coach, and manager.

 

The LA Kings to a 1-0 series lead in the Stanley Cup Finals with a 3-2 overtime win over the New York Rangers on Wednesday night.  Game two of the series is Saturday night in Los Angles

 

The NBA Finals get going tonight with San Antonio hosting the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the best of seven series.

 

WIAA Boys Golf

The WIAA Division One Manitowoc Sectional was moved to Rolling Meadows in Fond du Lac.  Fondy’s Marcus Ruch tied for 11th with a 77 while teammate Matt Dilling tied for 30th with an 85.

 

Campbellsport was 8th and Waupun was 9th at the D2 River Valley Sectional at House on the Rock.  George Lemmenes was Waupun’s top golfer with an 83 and 25th place.  Campbellsport’s Eric Leiteiser and Holden Serwe each shot 86s to pace the Cougars.  Lomira’s Anson Bautista shot a 99 as an individual qualifier.

 

Chilton finished 10th at the D2 New Holstein Sectional at Badger Creek.  Freshman Alex Brandt tied for 5th with a 79 and qualified for state as an individual. 

 

The St. Mary’s Springs boys golf team finished 6th at the Division Three Kohler Sectional at Black Wolf Run but qualified two individual players for the state tournament.  Brady Sarauer won the Sectional by two shots with a 74.  Pat Treichel fired a 77 and tied for third which earned him a spot at University Ridge.  Oakfield’s Rollin Petersen shot a 96 and teammate Trenton Vielbig scored a 101.

The WIAA State Boys Tennis Meet begins today in Madison. Fond du Lac junior Kenan Saleh (14-4)  will face Sun Prairie’s Iram Turrubiartes (23-3) in a first round match today at 10:30am.  The Fondy doubles team of Stuart Nett and Matt Riley will face Bill Kavanagh and Nate Beyer of Whitefish Bay at 2pm today.
