The Badger men’s basketball team is gearing up tonight’s Sweet 16 matchup with Baylor out in Anaheim.  The 6th seeded Bears knocked out #3 seed Creighton to crash the West Regional Semifinals.  Coverage begins at 5:30pm tonight with the tip set for 6:47pm tonight on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  The game will air on cable on TBS.

The 2nd game tonight in the West Region has #1 seed Arizona taking on #4 seed San Diego State.  Also tonight in the South Region #11 Dayton squares off with #10 Stanford, followed by #1 Florida battles #4 UCLA.  The South Region games can be seen on CBS.

The Chicago branch of the National Labor Relations Board ruled on Wednesday that Northwestern football players qualify as employees and should be allowed to form a union.  The school, Big Ten Conference and NCAA all object to the ruling and plan to appeal.  Allowing college players to form a union will change the landscape of college sports, such as allowing players to go on strike or athletic departments to lockout players.

The Indians pounded the Brewers 10-3 out in Arizona on Wednesday.  Opening day starter Yovani Gallardo gave up six hits and 4 runs in just two innings of work for Milwaukee.   The Brewers wrap up Cactus League action this afternoon as they take on the Reds.  The exhibition season comes to a close with a pair of games against the Royals at Miller Park on Friday and Saturday night.  The regular season opener is set for Monday afternoon at Miller Park when the Brewers host the Braves.  You’ll hear it on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

The Brewers could be without shortstop Jean Segura for Monday’s opener against the Braves.  He’s been nursing a shoulder injury and may end up on the disabled list.

The Chicago Bears added some beef to the defensive line by signing free agent Jarad Allen on Wednesday to a four year deal that could be worth up to $32 million dollars.

Milwaukee Hamilton’s Kevon Looney has been named the Associated Press Boys High School Basketball Player of the Year.   Neenah’s Matt Heldt was named to the 2nd team.  His Rocket teammate Adam Pohlman is 3rd team all-state.  Oshkosh North’s Cooper Radtke and Nate Neveau were Honorable Mention choices.
