Ryan Braun clubbed his 10th
homer of the season but that wasn’t enough as the Tigers win their series
finales over the Brewers 5-2 in Detroit.  Jonathan Broxton gave up 3 earned runs in the
8th inning to take the loss in relief of Kyle Lohse.  The Brewers open up a four game series in Atlanta tonight as Matt
Garza takes on Julio Teheran.  Coverage

The Cavs took Game 1 of the
Eastern Conference Finals with a 97-89 win at Atlanta on Wednesday night.  LeBron James had 31 and JR Smith 28 in the
win.  Jeff Teague led the Hawks with 27.   Game 2 of the series is set for Friday night
in Atlanta. Golden State
takes a 1-0 series lead into Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals tonight in
Oakland against Houston.

 

The Lightning took a 2-1
series lead over the New York Rangers in the NHL’s Eastern Conference Finals
with a 6-5 overtime win in Tampa on Wednesday night.   Game 4 is set for Friday night in Tampa. The Blackhawks
host the Anaheim Ducks in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals tonight in Chicago.  That series is tied 1-1.

native Drew Diener will
be named the head men’s basketball coach at Division II Rockhurst University in
Kansas City, Missouri after six seasons at Cardinal
Stritch.  Diener won the CCAC Conference
championships every year at Stritch and also the 2012-2013 NAIA Division II
National Championship and was the National Coach of the Year.  Rockhurst competes in the Great Lakes Valley
Conference, which also includes UW-Parkside. 

 

Brett Favre announced he will
hosts a celebrity flag football game at Camp Randall Stadium on July 19th,
the day after he is inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame.  Favre says that so far he has a good number
of people committed to play including; former
Packers include Javon Walker, Mark Chmura, Frank Winters and Andre Rison,
while the team of former NFL players include Donovan McNabb, Roger Craig,
Herman Moore, Willie Gault and Anthony Carter. Also, former UW running back and
Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne is expected to participate. A portion of the
proceeds from the event will benefit the Favre 4 Hope Foundation.  Tickets go on sale June 3rd.

Christian won the
Trailways Conference Boys Golf Tournament at Mascoutin on Wednesday.  The Crusaders team total of 357 was two shots
better than Oshkosh Lourdes. CWC’s Jake Thompson was 2nd overall
with an 86.  Oakfield was 5th.

 

Sheboygan Falls won their 4th consecutive ECW Boys Golf
Tournament at Whispering Springs on Wednesday. 
Campbellsport was 2nd, Waupun 3rd, and New
Holstein was 7th.

 

The WCTC All-Conference Boys
Tennis Team has been announced.  Earning
2nd Team Honors from the area are St. Mary’s Springs senior Alec
Strigenz, St. Lawrence sophomore Princeton La, and Ripon senior Travis
Johnson.  Ledger senior Cory Nies,
Ripon’s Bjorn Haugue, and St. Lawrence’s Jang Cho all garnered Honorable
Mention honors.
