The final week of the High School Football regular season begins tonight as the Saint Mary’s Springs Ledgers host Mayville to close out the Flyway Conference slate. The Ledgers clinched the conference championship with their win over Laconia last week. Head Coach Bob Hyland said the conference title for his seniors meant they now had a trophy and that will be their mark on the school and what they’re remembered by. Mayville comes into the game at 2-6, and has lost three straight. Including a 24-0 loss to Winnebago Lutheran last week. Pregame coverage on KFIZ begins at 6:30, kickoff at 7pm.

The WIAA Girls Volleyball Tournament Brackets have been released. In Division 1, Fond du Lac earned a #7 seed and will host Slinger next Thursday in regional play. In Division 2, Campbellsport will host Sheboygan Falls, Mayville plays at Grafton and Lomira is at Plymouth. Also in D-2 New Holstein hosts Ripon, Waupun plays host to Kiel and North Fond du Lac will travel to Berlin. In Division 3, St. Mary’s Springs will play at Reedsville, Winnebago Lutheran will visit Oostburg and Laconia plays at Oshkosh Lourdes. In Division 4, Oakfield travels to Heritage Christian

The Packers returned to practice on Wednesday to begin their preparations for the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas is lead on offense by a solid pair of rookies, Quarterback Dak Prescott and Running Back Ezekiel Elliott. Head Coach Mike McCarthy says Prescott’s ability to run makes it more difficult for the Green Bay defense this week.

Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers talked about why so many rookie quarterbacks have had success in the league of late, saying they’re more prepared – and that goes back to the youth, high school and college levels of preparation. The Badger football team is also hard at work, preparing to face the #2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday at Camp Randall. OSU Head Coach Urban Meyer says he’s impressed with Wisconsin’s defense and that you wouldn’t believe they underwent a coaching change in the offseason, because they’re performing so well. He says to be successful, his team needs to get to the second level on offense.

The MLB playoffs took the night off Wednesday, with only one series in the National League Division Series yet to be decided. Washington will host the Dodgers today in a winner-take-all Game 5 for the right to meet the Cubs in the next round, starting Saturday. Los Angeles pushed the best-of-five NLDS to the limit with a 6-5 win over Washington Tuesday. The Cubs rallied for four runs in the ninth inning to beat Giants 6-5 and eliminate San Francisco in four games. The American League Championship Series gets underway Friday, with Cleveland hosting Toronto

In NBA Preseason action last night, the Bucks fell to the Pacers 101-83. Giannis Antetokounmpo has 20 points to pace Milwaukee, while John Henson and Jabari Parker each tallied 11. Rodney Stuckey had 21 to lead Indiana. The Bucks host Chicago on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.
