The Brewers have now won two in a row over the Cubs with a 2-1 win at Miller Park Wednesday night. A pair of solo home runs by Jonathan Villar is all the offense Milwaukee needed as starter Matt Garza went six innings, allowing just one run and the Brewers bullpen held the Cubs scoreless the rest of the way. Garza did not factor into the decision, and Corey Knebel earned the win. Tyler Thornburg his 9th save of the year. The Brewers have won six of their last seven and begin a four game set at St. Louis tonight. No broadcast on KFIZ due to Thursday Night Football.

The Wisconsin TImber Rattlers fell in game one of their Midwest League best of three first round playoff series 11-3 to the Cedar Rapids Kernels in Appleton last night. The Kernels offense had 17 hits and their pitchers struck out 16 batters in the win. Game two of the series is tonight in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Rattlers need a win to force a game three, which would be held Friday night in Cedar Rapids.

The season opener against Jacksonville is just days away for the Packers. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said that often, too much time is spent preparing for the season opener and focusing on personnel matchups. He said the team has spent some time focusing on the Jacksonville defense going into this week. Pregame at 10am, kickoff at 12 noon this Sunday on KFIZ

The Green Bay Packers announced Wednesday they signed Tight End Devon Cajuste to the practice squad and released Linebacker Beniquez Brown. The 6-4 235 pound Cajuste played college ball at Stanford and was a member of the San Francisco 49ers in camp this year after signing as an undrafted rookie. He was released on September 3rd. Cajuste played in 45 career games at Stanford, registering 90 catches for 1,589 yards and 14 touchdowns. He will wear number 86 for the Packers.

The Badgers host Akron at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday. Tight End Troy Fumagalli says the Akron defense is not one to sleep on or take lightly. He added that the offense controlled the ball well in the LSU game this past weekend, but needs to focus on finishing drives. 12:30 pregame, 2:30 kickoff on Saturday afternoon on KFIZ.

University of Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez has signed a contract extension that will keep him as the head of Badger athletics through 2021. Financial terms were not announced. During his tenure as Athletic Director, Wisconsin has won 56 conference titles and 14 national championships. Off the field, Wisconsin student-athletes have achieved a cumulative 3.0 grade-point average consistently since 2009-10, with more than 1,300 of them earning academic All-Big Ten recognition. Alvarez is coming off a busy few years with high-profile coaching hires in football (Paul Chryst) and men’s hockey (Tony Granato). He also elevated Greg Gard from men’s basketball assistant to head coach following the midseason retirement of Bo Ryan.
