The Hierl Insurance High School Team(s) of the Week are the Winnebago Lutheran football team and the WLA Boys Soccer Team. The football team advanced to level three of the WIAA playoffs with a 10-7 win over undefeated Southern Door last Friday. The Vikings will play at defending State Champion Amherst this week. The WLA Boys Soccer team defeated St. Lawrence Seminary 1-0 in Overtime on Saturday in the sectional championship game to advance to the state tournament for the first time since 2012.  The Vikings will play Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran on Thursday night.

The Marian University Men’s Soccer team will conclude their regular season with a game against a Big Ten opponent. The Sabres will travel to Northwestern this afternoon in a game that will count as a regular season contest for both schools. “It’s a neat opportunity for our guys to play against a Division I opponent and see what that level of play is like,” Marian head coach Craig Peltonen said. “It’s also an opportunity to end the season in a unique manner. Win, lose, draw it will be a great experience.”. Game time is set for 4:30 pm.

Just two weeks after trading for him, the Packers have released Running Back Knile Davis. The team announced the move Monday. Green Bay traded a conditional 2018 seventh round draft pick to Kansas City for Davis on October 17th. Davis was barely used by the team, carrying the ball five times for five yards, catching two passes for four yards and returning one kickoff for 18 yards.

Monday Night Football: The Bears handed the Vikings their second straight loss, 20-10 at Soldier Field in Chicago. Jay Cutler threw for 252 yards and a touchdown and rookie Jordan Howard carried the ball 26 times for 153 yards and a score in the win. The Vikings are 5-2, they host Detroit on Sunday. The Bears improve to 2-6, they are on their bye week.

The Indians came up short in their first chance to wrap up their first World Series title since 1948. The good news is that they get two shots at doing it in front of their home fans. Game 6 of the World Series is set for Cleveland tonight after the Cubs stayed alive with a Game 5 win. Game 7 will be there, too, if it’s necessary. Jake Arrieta will take the mound at Progressive Field where he took a no-hitter into the sixth inning in a Game 2 Chicago win. The Indians will counter with Josh Tomlin, who pitched 4 2-3 solid innings in Cleveland’s 1-0 win at Wrigley Field in Game 3
