High School Football:


The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association released their All-State team on Monday, with some area athletes earning honors. Oakfield’s Brandon Williams was named to the All-State team as a utility player, while Fond du Lac’s Henry Lange and Adam Hopper were named Honorable Mention All-State. Also named to the Honorable Mention All-State team were Jacob Schrauth (OL), Clay Schueffner (LB/RB) of St. Mary’s Springs.


NFL:


Carolina 45, Miami 21

--Cam Newton threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns in the win for Carolina.


College Football:


Wisconsin linebacker Leon Jacobs was named the Big Ten’s Co-Defensive Player of the Week and running back Jonathan Taylor once again earned Freshman of the Week honors after the Badgers’ 38-14 win over Iowa on Saturday. Jacobs had two fumble recoveries, returning one for a touchdown, to go along with four tackles and a sack in the win. Wisconsin’s defense held Iowa to just 66 yards of total offense, the fewest yards ever allowed against a conference opponent in program history. Jacobs shared the honor with Iowa’s Josh Jackson, who returned two interceptions for scores and a forced fumble in the loss to the Badgers.


Taylor earned Freshman of the Week honors from the Big Ten after carrying the ball 29 times for 157 yards, his seventh 100-yard rushing game this year. It is the sixth time Taylor has been named “Freshman of the Week” this season, tying him for the second most in conference history.


College Basketball:


UW-Milwaukee 74, Iowa State 56

--Four players scored in double figures for the Panthers, led by Brock Stull with 17 as Milwaukee downed Iowa State in Ames.


Duke remains atop the first regular season Associated Press College Basketball Poll, after a 2-0 start to the season for the Blue Devils. The rest of the top four remains unchanged, with Michigan State at two, Arizona at three and Kansas at four. Villanova rounds out the top five, with Wichita State at six, Kentucky at seven, Florida at eight, North Carolina at nine and USC at ten. Big Ten teams in the poll include Minnesota at 14, Purdue at 19 and Northwestern at 20.

New Mexico 88, Marquette 87


NBA:


Milwaukee 110, Memphis 103

--Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 27 points, Khris Middleton added 17 points on four of five shooting from three point range as the Bucks won their third straight game. The Bucks shot 54 percent from three point range as a team in the win. Milwaukee hosts Detroit on Wednesday.
