Monday’s High School Action:

Boys Basketball: St. Mary’s Springs 70, Sheboygan Christian 65 (OT). Blake Bauer and Cade Christensen each with 16 points for the Ledgers.

Girls Basketball: Oakfield 68, Montello 43.

The Hierl Insurance High School Team of the Week is the Fond du Lac Boys Swimming & Diving team. Over the weekend, the Cardinals won the Cudahy Invite for the fourth straight year, medaling in each event and winning all three relays at the invite.

Monday Night Football: Indianapolis 41, NY Jets 10. Andrew Luck threw for four touchdowns, three of them to Dwayne Allen in the win.

Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson is one of the five finalists for the Heisman Trophy, along with Clemson QB Deshaun Watson, Michigan linebacker Jabrill Peppers and Oklahoma teammates Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook. Jackson completed 58 percent of his passes for 3,390 yards and 30 touchdowns for the Cardinals after entering the season as one of the Heisman favorites. Watson finished third in the balloting last year and will be on hand when the trophy is presented Saturday in New York



Jeff Brohm has been hired as the new head football coach at Purdue after accepting a six-year contract worth an average of approximately $3.5 million per season. Brohm was lured away from Western Kentucky, where he was 30-10 and created one of the nation’s top offenses. He takes over a program that was 9-39 in its last four seasons under Darrell Hazell and interim coach Gerad Parker.

Nigel Hayes has earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors from the conference following his performance on the court in last week’s games. Hayes averaged 18.5 points, 8 assists and 6.5 rebounds per game in a pair of wins over Syracuse and Oklahoma. It’s Hayes’ first Player of the Week honor from the conference and the team’s first since Frank Kaminsky in March of 2015

Men’s College Hoops: UW-Milwaukee 83, Montana State 78

NBA: Milwaukee saw their four game winning streak snapped in a 97-96 loss to San Antonio at the Bradley Center Monday night. A basket by LaMarcus Aldridge with 21 seconds left in the game was the difference in the game. Jabari Parker had 23, Giannis Antetokounmpo had 22 in the loss. The Bucks are next in action Wednesday, when they host Portland.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week after his performance on the court that led Milwaukee to a perfect 3-0 record over the last week of games. Giannis averaged 24.3 points, 10 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 3.7 steals and 3 blocks per game during that stretch. He had a career high of 34 points and added 12 rebounds, five assists, five steals and two blocks against defending World Champion Cleveland last Tuesday night.
