The Brewers blanked the
Braves 2-0 on Opening Day at Miller
Park
.  Yovani Gallardo struck out 4 and gave up just
four hits in six innings of work to notch the win.  Brandon Kintzler, Will Smith, and Francisco
Rodriguez all threw scoreless innings to complete the shutout for The
Crew.  Aramis Ramirez’s two-run double in
the 4th was the only scoring of the game.  The series continues tonight as Alex Wood
takes on Kyle Lohse.  Coverage begins at
6:35pm. The first pitch is set for 7:10pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ

 

Ryan Braun got a standing
ovation and a loud cheer from most of the Miller Park
faithful on Monday afternoon as he approached the plate for his first at-bat
after missing 65 games on suspension last year. 
He went 1×4 on the day.

The Pistons rallied by the
Bucks 116-111 last night in Detroit.  Brandon Knight had 25 and Ramon Sessions 20
in the loss.  The Bucks play at Miami on Wednesday
night.  You’ll hear it on KFIZ.

 

Kansas freshman Andrew Wiggins declared for the NBA Draft
on Monday.  He is expected to be a top 3
pick in this summers draft. 

 

The Badgers will practice in
Madison today as they get ready for the Final Four
in DallasWisconsin
will leave for North Texas on Wednesday.  They tip with Kentucky in the 2nd of two
national semifinals on Saturday night at 7:49pm.

 

ESPN reports that Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin talked with Marquette but has pulled his name out of the running to
replace Buzz Williams as Marquette’s
head coach.  Reports still say that
former UCLA coach Ben Howland and Duke assistant Steve Wojciechowski are under
consideration for the job.

 

A pair of St. Mary’s Springs
girls basketball players were given All-State honors by the Associated
Press.  Junior Kelli Schrauth was named 3rd
Team All-State while fellow junior Melanie Schneider was Honorable
Mention.  Frankie Wurtz of Kimberly was
named to the 2nd Team.

 

The Wisconsin Hockey Coaches
Association has released their All-State Hockey Team.  Fond
du Lac
’s Michael Wilson was named 1st Team
at Forward.  St.
Mary’s Springs forwards Conner Blank and Anthony Grebe were Honorable Mention
as was Waupun’s Ryan Durant.
