Brett Favre is coming back to the Green Bay Packers family.  After being estranged after retiring, un-retiring and then playing for the Jets and Vikings, Brett Favre hasn’t been involved in any Packers events or activities until now.  The Packers Hall of Fame in a joint press conference with the team and Favre announced that the three-time MVP will be the lone inductee next July.   The Packers also announced that Favre’s #4 will be retired during the induction ceremony and that his name and #4 wiill be added to the north end zone of the Lambeau Field during a game during the 2015 season.  Favre says that he is honored to be going into the team’s Hall of Fame.

The Packers put the pads on last night as they get ready for their preseason opener in Nashville on Saturday night against the Tennessee Titans.  Packers coach Mike McCarthy says that rookie tight end Colt Lyerla will be out “for weeks” after suffering a knee injury trying to hurdle a defender in the Family Night practice Saturday night.  Rookie WR Jeff Janis was activated from the non-football injury list and did some light drills as he battles shingles.  BJ Raji was back on the practice field after suffering an ankle injury on Saturday night.  The team will practice today at Noon.

The Brewers open up a three game series at Miller Park tonight against the San Francisco Giants.  Jimmy Nelson takes on Tim Lincecum. Coverage begins at 6:35pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

The Brewers lead in the NL Central is one game over St. Louis, 1.5 games over Pittsburgh and 5 games over the Reds.  The Pirates will be missing MVP Andrew McCuthen for a while as he’ll go on the 15 day disabled list with an oblique injury.
