Golden Eagles Squeeze Orange

Marquette took down #12 Syracuse 74-71 on Monday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  Devante Gardner went 7-7 from the floor and scored 26 points as the Golden Eagles improve to 20-7 overall and 11-4 in the Big East.

 

Badgers Host Nebraska

The Badgers are home at the Kohl Center tonight as they host Nebraska.  You’ll hear it on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 7pm with the tip set for 8pm.

 

Cardinal Stritch Honors

A trio of college basketball players have received all-conference honors at Cardinal Stritch University.  Laconia grad Derek Semenas has been named First Team All-CCAC.  Fondy grads Nick Ford and Tony Smit were both named Honorable Mention All-CCAC.  Head Coach Drew Diener, also a Fond du Lac Goodrich graduate, was named Coach of The Year. The Wolves won their conference this year and ranked #2 in NAIA Division Two.

 

Bucks Head To Texas

The Bucks begin a two game Texas swing tonight in Dallas.  On Wednesday night they do the Texas-Two Step to Houston.  Despite their recent struggles, the Bucks still hold the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Fondy Boys Fall At SPASH

Stevens Points rallied to beat Fond du Lac 59-54 in the Division One Regional Final on Monday night in Stevens Point.  Fondy controlled tempo early and led the Wisconsin Valley champs 14-12 after one, 24-19 at the half, and 33-32 after 3 quarters.  SPASH’s phenom freshman duo of Sam Hauser and Trevor Anderson found their stride in the fourth quarter as the Panthers outscored Fondy 27-21 to secure the win.  Hauser scored 9 of his game high 20 in the fourth, including a clutch three with less than 2 minutes left.  Anderson scored 11 of his 15 in the fourth quarter as well.  Max Schebel ended his varsity career with 13 points while Logan Wendt chipped in 12.  The Cardinals season ends at 12-12.  Stevens Point will travel to Oshkosh North on Thursday night for a Sectional Semifinal matchup with the FVA champs.

 

Thursday Prep Sports Schedule

The Thursday high school broadcast schedule is set.  On Thursday night, the Fond du Lac hockey team will take on Superior in a state quarterfinal matchup.  You’ll hear all the action on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ and streaming at kfiz.com..  The Backyard Grill Pregame Show is set for 7:50pm with the puck set to drop at 8:15pm from the Alliant Energy Center.  Also on Thursday night,  St. Mary’s Springs and Laconia will square off in a Division Four Sectional Semifinal at Fond du Lac High School  You will hear that game on K107.1-FM.  The Backyard Grill Pregame Show comes your way at 6:35pm with the tip at 7pm.
