Bucks Fire Skiles
The Milwaukee Bucks have fired head coach Scott Skiles. USA Today broke the story last night. Skiles was in the last year of a five year deal and reportedly told the organization he didn’t want an extension. Milwaukee has lost 4 straight and sits at 16-16 on the season. If they season ended today they would be the #7 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. He was 162-182 in four-plus seasons with the Bucks. Assistant Jim Boylan will coach the team for the rest of the season.
Crimson Tide Blow Out Irish
Alabama won their 2nd straight BCS National Championship with a 42-14 win over #1 Notre Dame. AJ McCarron threw for 264 yards and 4 TDs and Eddie Lacy ran for 140 yards and a TD in the win for the Crimson Tide. Oregon finishes #2 in both the AP and the Coaches Poll. Ohio State was #3 in the AP Poll, while Notre was #3 in the Coaches and #4 in the final AP poll. The Badgers finished 35th in the AP poll and 30th in the Coaches Poll.
Cotton Bowl May Host BCS Title Game
Reports say that the Cotton Bowl may be the first bowl to host the BCS National Championship Game on January 12th, 2015. Reports say that the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl will host the first national semifinals that same year on January 1st.
Packers vs. 49ers
The Packers will get back on the practice field today as they get ready for the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game on Saturday night. You’ll hear the game on KFIZ. Coverage begins at 5pm with the kickoff set for 7pm.
RGIII Torn LCL
ESPN is reporting that Redskins QB Robert Griffin III has a torn LCL in his right knee and may also have an ACL tear.
Gonzalez Deal Done
The Brewers finalized a 1-year, $2.25 million dollar contract with reliever Mike Gonzalez on Monday. The lefty appeared in 47 games last year and had a 3.03 ERA.
