The Tampa Bay Rays edged the Brewers 2-1 on Monday night in Florida.  The Brewers bats continued to be silent as they mustered just three hits on the night.  Their lone run came off the bat of Mark Reynolds, who belted his team leading 18th homer in the 3rd inning.  Kyle Lohse gave up a bloop singles to James Loney in the 6th for the Rays only runs on the night.   The Brewers lead in the NL Central is now down to just 1.5 games over St. Louis.  The series continues tonight as Matt Garza takes on Alex Cobb.  Coverage begins at 5:35pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

After working out in pads for the first time in 2014 on Monday the Packers will take today off.   They get going again on Wednesday with a workout at 8:20am.  That will be open to the public weather permitting.

Wisconsin Badgers running back Melvin Gordon and right tackle Rob Havenstein were each named one of five players to watch in the Big Ten Western Division by the media on Monday.  Wisconsin is picked to win the Western Division. They open the season on August 30th down in Texas against LSU.

The FVA boys basketball conference will be a bit tougher next year as the #1 ranked sophomore in the state has transferred to Oshkosh North.   The 6’4 guard Phillip Flory averaged 13 points per game as a freshman at Wisconsin Rapids last year and has moved with his family to Oshkosh wear he will play for veteran coach Frank Schade.  Flory’s father Mike played for Marquette in the 1980s and he himself has already verbally committed to playing for the Golden Eagles once he graduates in 2017.
