Bishop Cut

The Packers cut linebacker Desmond Bishop on Monday.  The team restructured AJ Hawk’s contract and gave Brad Jones an extension during the offseason so Bishop became expendable.   He missed all of last season with a torn hamstring.  Bishop is scheduled to meet with the Minnesota Vikings today.

 

Ellis Opts Out

Guard Monta Ellis has decided to opt out of the final year of contract and become a free agent.  Ellis was set to make $11 million dollars next season in Milwaukee but chose to test the free agent waters.  Ellis turned down a two-year, $25 million dollar extension offered up by Milwaukee earlier this year.

 

Bucks Hire Assistants

Bucks coach Larry Drew has hired a pair of assistants.  Bob Bender and Nick Van Exel will move from Atlanta to Bucks along with the new head coach. Van Exel is a Kenosha native and played 13 seasons in the NBA.

 

NBA Finals

The San Antonio Spurs can take home the NBA Championship tonight if they can get a win in Miami in Game 6 of the NBA Finals. The Spurs lead the best of seven series 3-2.

Brewers

After taking Monday off the Brewers open up a three game interleague series in Houston.  Alfredo Figaro gets the start for Milwaukee. Coverage begins at 6:35pm on KFIZ.

Ledger Golfers Honored

The St. Mary’s Springs boys golf team has been given the Division Three Academic All-State Award by the Wisconsin Golf Coaches Association.  The Ledgers team GPA was 3.785 this year.  Laconia was Honorable Mention in D3 with a 3.459 GPA. Ripon was also Honorable Mention in Division Two with a 3.563 team GPA.
