The Brewers have signed veteran pitcher Kyle Lohse to a 3-year, $33 million dollar contract. The 34-year-old free agent went 16-3 with a 2.86 ERA last year in St. Louis. By signing Lohse the Brewers must give up their first round pick in this year’s draft which is the 17th overall. He could pitch in the Brewers exhibition game on Thursday and if all goes well could get penciled in for a start next week.
Brewers vs. A’s
The Oakland A’s beat the Brewers 9-7 in Cactus League play in Monday. Chris Narveson was roughed up for six runs and 8 hits in 3 and two-thirds innings. The Brewers take today off before playing the Royals on Wednesday afternoon. Opening day is on Monday when the Crew hosts Colorado.
The Packers will bring Jermichael Finley back for the 2013 season. Rumors had been swirling that the tight end would be released or traded but team officials have confirmed that he will be paid his $3 million dollar roster bonus and make about $8.25 million dollars in 2013.
It looks like the Packers will be brining in some competition for kicker Mason Crosby this year. Packers WR Jeremy Ross tweeted that is college teammate Giorgio Tavecchio would be signed by the Packers. He was a a camp kicker with the 49ers last season after a successful college career at California.
The Miami Heat won their 27th straight game with a 108-94 win over Orlando. LeBron James had 24 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists.
Gophers Fire Smith
The Minnesota Golden Gophers have fired head men’s basketball coach Tubby Smith. In six seasons he was 124-81 He won 20 games five times but was just 46-62 in Big Ten play.
The Wisconsin Badger men’s hockey team continues to get ready for the NCAA Tournament. After a 2-7-3 start Wisconsin rallied to win the WCHA title and finish with a 22-12-7 mark. UW gets a #4 seed and will play #1 seed UMass-Lowell on Friday afternoon in New Hampshire.
Tiger Woods won the Arnold Palmer Invite on Monday by two shots over Justin Rose after weather pushed the tournament to an extra day. The win also moves Woods back to #1 in the world.

The Fond du Lac girls track team finished 9th in the 21 team event at the Oshkosh Titan Invitational at the Kolf Sports Center.
