The WIAA
Boys State Basketball Tournament kicks off with Regional action across the
state.  KFIZ will be over at Winnebago
Lutheran as the Vikings host North Fond du Lac
in a Division 3 matchup. Our coverage begins at 6:30pm with the Tim Cruz Agency
American Family Insurance Pregame Show. 
The tip is set for 7pm.  The
playoff series is sponsored by Taco Bell.

 

Both Fond du Lac and St. Mary’s
Springs have 1st round byes and will open up Regional play on Friday
night.

Green Bay guard Kiefer Sykes it the Horizon
League Player of the Year for the 2nd straight season.  The Horizon League Men’s Basketball
Tournament kicks off tonight with first round matchups.  Green
Bay
’s 2nd place finish gives them a bye
into Saturday night’s semifinals.  Valparaiso won the league
and will host the quarterfinals through finals this weekend.  UW-Milwaukee did not qualify for the season
ending tournament.

 

Fond du Lac High
School
alumni Tony Smit has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate
Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.  Smit was 2nd in the league in
scoring at 20.1 ppg and led the league with 194 assists. That was the 5th
best assist total in the country.  Smit
is also the only player in CCAC history to record 1500 career points, 500
career rebounds and 500 career assists.

 

The Bucks
continue their west coast road trip tonight in Denver. The tip is set for 8pm.  We’ll join that game in progress after high
school basketball tonight on KFIZ.

 

The Packers
chose not to use a franchise tag on any of their free agents including Brian
Bulaga and Randall Cobb.  The team can
still try and workout a new contract before March 10th when free
agency opens up.  The Detroit Lions also
chose not to use the tag on defensive lineman Ndamukong Sue.

 

Former
Packer Brad Jones signed a two year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
