The Marian University men’s basketball will travel to #1 ranked UW-Stevens Point in the first round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament.   The game is set for Friday night in Stevens Point.  It’s Marian’s first NCAA men’s basketball tournament bid since 2001.

The Badger men’s basketball team jumped up to #9 in the Associated Press College Basketball Poll this week.  The Badgers travel to Purdue on Wednesday night.

Horizon League champion UW-Green Bay is ranked  34th.  Head Coach Brian Wardle had been named the Coach of the Year.  Keifer Sykes was named the Player of the Year while Alec Brown makes the First Team and is the Defensive Player of the Year.

LeBron James had a career high 61 points last night as Miami beat Charlotte 124-107.

The Green Bay Packers have decided not to use the franchise tag on free agents Sam Shields or BJ Raji. That mean’s both players are free to shop their services to any team in the NFL and the Packers won’t get any compensation if they leave.  The free agency opens on Saturday in the NFL.  The Packers have about $35 million dollars in cap space and tagging either player would have taken about $10 million dollars of that space.

Ryan Braun had a pair of hits but the Brewers lost to the Cubs 4-2 on Monday in Cactus League play.  Braun is hitting .800 so far this spring.

The Brewers and Oakland will play today.  Coverage begins at 1:55pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

The Brewers also announced that when Bob Uecker takes time off from the radio this year, a trio of former players will fill in.  Craig Council, Darryl Hamilton, and Jerry Augustine will serve as Joe Block’s partner’s while Mr. Baseball is away.
