Bucks Win In OT

Monta Ellis scored 34 points while Brandon Jennings added 20 points and 17 assists in the Bucks 109-108 overtime win over Utah at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  JJ Redick came off the bench to score 17.  The Bucks are just a game behind Boston, who holds the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

 

Ellis Eastern Conference POW

Bucks guard Monta Ellis has been named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week.  Last week he averaged 24 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists, and 5 steals as the Bucks went 3-0

 

Green Bay Hosts Milwaukee

UW-Green Bay will host UW-Milwaukee tonight in the first round of the Horizon League Tournament.   The Phoenix swept the regular season series.  The winner advances to Friday night’s quarterfinals.

 

Packers Don’t Use Franchise Tag

As expected the Green Bay Packers did not use the franchise tag on any of their players, keeping them off the free agent market.   That mean’s Greg Jennings is on the open market to sign anywhere he wants.  Had Ted Thompson used the tag on Jennings he would have be guaranteed a one-year deal worth about $10.5 million dollars.

 

Flacco’s Big Deal

Baltimore has made quarterback Joe Flacco the highest paid player in NFL history by inking him to a six-year, $120 million dollar contract.

 

Budmayr Done

Badger coach Gary Andersen announced on Monday that quarterback Jon Budmayr will not being playing for the team this fall but will remain with the program.  Budmayr suffered nerve damage in his right elbow in 2011 and never fully recovered.  He will stay with the program as a volunteer assistant coach.   Spring practice opens on Saturday.

 

Brewers Back At It

After taking Monday off, the Brewers will play Team Canada today in Arizona.  Three Brewers will actually be playing for Canada today.  Pitchers John Axford and Jim Henderson and infielder Taylor Green all are on the Canadian World Baseball Classic roster.  Yovani Gallardo is set to pitch one inning today for Mexico to test out his groin injury.  If he is OK, he will throw against either the United States or Canada this weekend.

 

Zags #1

For the first time in team history Gonzaga sits on top of the college basketball world.  The Zags are #1 in both college basketball polls with Indiana sitting at #2.  Marquette is #15 in the AP Poll and #17 in the Coaches Poll.  The Badgers are #22 in the AP and #21 in the Coaches Poll.
