The Winnebago Lutheran baseball team completed the season sweep of cross-town rival St. Mary’s Springs with a 5-2 win at Viking Field on Monday night. WLA scored single runs in the first three innings and then a pair of runs in the 4th. Cleanup hitter Ryan Boelk successfully completed suicide squeeze bunts in the 1st and 3rd to plate runs. Mitch McFArlane drove in the WLA run in the 2nd inning. WLA’s two runs in the 4th came on an error and a wild pitch. St. Mary’s Spring got their first hit of the game in the 6th when Jacob Schneider blasted a home run to left. Eric Feldner added a solo shot in the 7th for SMSA. Kevin Seibel picked up the win while Maustin Otterstatter tallied the final out of the game to notch the save. Feldner was the hard luck loser for St. Mary’s Springs. St. Mary’s Springs (4-3) goes to Kettle Moraine Lutheran on Tuesday, while WLA (8-3) plays a double header at Lomira.

High School Rugby
The FDL Stoutmen high school boys rugby team defeated the Appleton Dragons on Monday evening at Lions Park in Greenville by a score of 34-15. The Stoutmen jumped out to a 24-0 lead but Appleton scored two trys at the end of the first half bringing the score to 24-10 at half. Fond du Lac added two trys in the second half to seal the victory, raising their record to 3-1-1. Scoring for the Stoutmen were Jason Winkleman, Ezra Poss, Andy Johnston, Eric Fritsch, and Jordan Stanchfield. The Stoutmen travel to Little Chute to play the Black Knights this Friday. Then on Monday they face the Oshkosh Pigs at home for their final home game of the season.
The Fond du Lac Boys Track team took 3rd place Monday at the FVA Conference relays finishing behind Kimberly and Appleton North. The FVA Conference Championships will be contested next week Monday at Papermaker Stadium in Kimberly.
