The Seattle Seahawks survived
a late charge by Detroit
to win 13-10 on Monday Night Football.  
The Lions appeared to be ready to take the lead with less than 2 minutes
left in the game when Calvin Johnson fumbled inside the one yard line but
safety Kam Chancellor forced a fumble. 
The ball was then illegally batted out of the end zone by KJ Wright,
which should have given the ball back to Detroit,
but it wasn’t called by the officials. 
The Seahawks are now 2-2 while Detroit
is 0-4.

 

The Miami Dolphins have fired
coach Joe Philbin four games into his fourth season.  The Dolphins are just 1-3 and were thumped by
the Jets 27-14 on Sunday in London.  Tight ends coach Dan Campbell has been named
interim coach.

 

The Packers take today off
before beginning full preparations for Sunday game with the Rams at Lambeau on
Wednesday.   That’s a noon kickoff.  You’ll hear it on KFIZ.

 

Badgers linebacker Joe
Schobert has been named the Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his 8
tackle, 3 sack day in a 10-6 loss to Iowa
on Saturday.  The Badgers head to Nebraska on Saturday.

 

The Major League Baseball
Playoffs begins tonight with the American League Wild Card Game.  The Yankees will host the Houston Astros
tonight.  On Wednesday the Pirates host
the Cubs in the N.L. Wild Card Game.  The
Division Series begins on Thursday.

 

The Brewers will only bring
two members of their coaching staff back in 2015.  3rd base coach Ed Sedar and
hitting coach Darnell Coles will be back. 
Everyone else on Craig Counsell’s staff was fired on Monday.

Sectionals continue with action across the state.  Rolling Meadows
is hosting one sectional and Fond du
Lac
has a couple of golfers taking part as individual
qualifers in Hannah Lange and Margaret Krolczyk.

 

The Marian University men’s golf team completed play at the MSOE
Invite finishing in a fifth place tie after shooting a second round score of
313.
Ryonen Faris was able to hold on to his
first round lead to earn the individual title with a second round score of
74.  Faris’ two-day total of 140 was one stroke better than Kyle Bruce of Edgewood who finished in second with a 141.
