Three Fond du Lac boys basketball players have earned all-conference honors from the Fox Valley Association. Senior Luke Loewe earned first team all-conference honors, senior Sam Fredrickson was named to the second team and senior Caleb Goldstein was named honorable mention all-FVA. Oshkosh North’s Tyrese Haliburton was named the conference’s player of the year, while the Spartans’ Frank Schade was named coach of the year.


The Big Ten Tournament gets underway today with two games being played in Washington DC. The Badgers have a double-bye and will play friday against either Indiana or Iowa. Today Penn State plays Nebraska and Rutgers battles Ohio State.


The Badger Men’s Basketball team will compete in next fall’s Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City, Missouri on November 20th and 21st. The field for the tournament was announced Tuesday and includes Baylor, Creighton and UCLA along with the Badgers. All four teams have spent time ranked in the top 10 of the AP Poll this season. The classic will be the culmination of college basketball’s Hall of Fame Weekend in Kansas CIty, which will include the annual induction ceremony for the College Basketball Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 19th. The complete bracket along with matchups and television times for ESPN’s coverage will be announced at a later date.


Men’s College Basketball:


Horizon League (Championship):


Northern Kentucky 59, Milwaukee 53

--The run for 10th-seeded Milwaukee comes to an end as they fall to Northern Kentucky in the Horizon League Tournament Championship Game.


Women’s College Basketball:


Big East (Championship)


Marquette 86, De Paul 78

--The Golden Eagles win their first Big East Tournament Championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament. It’s their first tourney appearance since 2011.


Horizon League:


Green Bay 64, Detroit 52

--The Phoenix win the Horizon League’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It is their third-consecutive tournament championship and 17th NCAA tourney appearance.


Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Letroy Guion has been suspended without pay by the NFL for the first four games of the 2017 season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

The NFL said in a statement on Tuesday that Guion would be eligible to take part in all offseason and preseason practices, as well as preseason games.  Guion started 15 games last season, making 30 tackles. The nine-year veteran agreed to a three-year deal worth $11.25 million in February 2016 to stay with the Packers.
