Girls Volleyball:

Fond du Lac took second place at the FVA Fall Classic, going 4-1 for the tournament. The Cardinals defeated Hortonville, Appleton North, Oshkosh North and Kaukauna in Pool Play, then fell to Neenah in the championship game.

St. Mary’s Springs went 3-0 at the UW-Oshkosh invite. The Ledgers defeat Waupun 2-0 (25-10 and 25-19), Fall River 2-1 (25-19, 16-25 and 17-15) and Green Bay Southwest (25-18 and 25-15). Emily Mueller had 27 kills, 3 blocks and 3 aces, Virginia Arndt 30 assists and 8 digs for Springs.

Oshkosh West defeated Fond du Lac in an FVA dual meet at Rolling Meadows Golf Course 200-208. Fondy’s Margaret Krolczyk earned medalist honors with a 43.

–An RBI double from Travis Shaw in the 7th inning was the difference as the Brewers won game two of their series against the Giants in San Francisco Tuesday night. Ryan Braun tied the game at 3 with a sacrifice fly earlier in the frame. Jeremy Jeffress earned the win in relief of starter Jimmy Nelson. Nelson allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings of work. Corey Knebel picked up his 27th save of the year in the win. The final game of the series is this afternoon, Matt Garza takes the mound for Milwaukee with the Giants sending Matt Moore to the hill. Coverage begins at 2:10 pm, first pitch at 2:45 on KFIZ.

College Football:

Badgers senior Tight End Troy Fumagalli was named a second-team preseason All-American by the Associated Press on Tuesday. Fumagalli caught 47 passes for 580 yards and two touchdowns in 2016. He’s played in 39 games in his Wisconsin career, catching 89 passes for 1,080 yards and three scores.

The Badgers and UCLA have agreed to a two-game home-and-home series starting in 2029. The Badgers will travel to the Rose Bowl to face UCLA on September 15th, 2029 and host the Bruins at Camp Randall on September 7th of 2030. The teams have met 11 times previously, with UCLA holding a 7-4 advantage. Wisconsin has won the last three meetings – all in bowl games – the 1994 Rose Bowl, 1999 Rose Bowl and 2000 Sun Bowl.
