The Marquette Golden Eagles have tabbed Duke assistant Steve Wojchiechowski as their next head basketball coach.  The new coach played for Mike Krzyzewski in the 1990s and has been on his coaching staff since 1999.  He was an assistant for Coach K on the United States National Team in 2006 and 2012.

 

The Badgers head to Dallas today as they get ready for the Final Four.  Wisconsin and Kentucky will play the 2nd of the semifinals on Saturday night.  UConn and Florida will tip just after 5pm with the Badgers and Wildcats set for 7:49pm.  You’ll hear the Badger game on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

 

The Braves stopped the Brewers 5-2 on Tuesday night at Miller Park.   Kyle Lohse gave up 3 runs and 5 hits in seven innings of work to take the loss.  Alex Woods gave up just one run and five hits in 7 innings to notch the win.  Wood’s only mistake was a solo homer to Carlos Gomez in the bottom of the first.  Freddie Freeman knocked a pair of home runs for Atlanta.  The series wraps up this today.  Matt Garza takes on Aaron Harang.  Coverage begins at 11:35am with the tip set for 12:10pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

 

The rest of the NL Central was off on Tuesday.

 

The Bucks are in Florida tonight for a matchup with the Miami Heat.  Coverage begins at 6:10pm on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.

 

Tiger Woods won’t be at Augusta National this year.  The 14-time Major winner had back surgery earlier this week and will miss The Masters for the first time in 20 years.  The Masters begins April 10th.

 

High school basketball’s top players will take part in the McDonald’s All-American game tonight in Chicago.  Milwaukee Hamilton’s Kevon Looney, a UCLA recruit, is just the 5th Wisconsin player to play in the boys game.  Kohler’s Joe Wolf,  Cassville’s Sam Okey, Appeton West’s Brian Butch, and Calvin Rayford of Milwaukee Washington also took part in the event.

The Marian University athletic department has announced that Jillian Sauer has agreed to become the next head coach of the women's soccer program. Sauer becomes the fifth head coach in program history following a two-year stint as full-time assistant and short time as interim head coach.  Sauer, a native of Stevens Point, replaces Jason Murphy, who recently accepted the head coaching position at UW-La Crosse Sauer inherits a program that has put together seven straight seasons with a .500 or better winning percentage, including six straight conference tournament appearances.
