Girls Volleyball: Fond du Lac defeats Oshkosh North, loses to Kimberly, Neenah and Oshkosh West at the Neenah invite.

The Packers are continuing preparation for their third preseason game, on the road at San Francisco Friday night. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers says while he’s not sure about how much playing time he’ll get on Friday, he will be ready. He also said he’s ready to work with Jordy Nelson again in team drills. The Packers and 49ers kick off at 9pm on Friday, we will join the game in progress on KFIZ following high school football.

Badgers offensive lineman Dan Voltz announced his retirement from football on Tuesday, in what he called a difficult decision. Voltz played in 32 games with 27 starts at center for the Badgers after enrolling in the spring of 2012. However, he saw a knee injury keep him out of six games last season and was sidelined for spring practice as he worked through the rehab process in order to get back on the field this fall. He said he was looking out for his future health and had lost confidence in his body. Voltz was practicing at guard during camp to accommodate sophomore Michael Dieter, his replacement at center last season.  Voltz says he plans to remain close to the Badgers’ program despite the end of his playing career.

The Brewers won their second straight game, defeating the Colorado Rockies 6-4 at Miller Park on Tuesday night. Martin Maldonado and Jonathan Villar had RBI doubles and Hernan Perez had a two run triple in the 7th to give the Brewers a 5-4 lead. Brent Suter picked up his first major league win in relief, while Corey Knebel earned his first save of the season. Final game of the series is this afternoon, a 12:35 pregame, 1:10 first pitch on KFIZ.

The MLB postseason will open with the American League wild-card game on Tuesday, Oct. 4, followed by the National League wild-card game the next day. In releasing its playoff schedule on Tuesday, MLB also said the World Series will begin on Tuesday Oct. 25 at the home the AL champion. A seventh and deciding game, if necessary, is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2. The AL division series begin Thursday, Oct. 6; the NL division series begin Friday, Oct. 7. The AL championship series is scheduled to begin on Friday, Oct. 14; the NL championship series on Oct. 15
