Capers Stays

Packers coach Mike McCarthy told the media in his season ending press conference on Tuesday that he didn’t think defensive coordinator Dom Capers should lose his job after getting torched by the San Francisco 49ers in their playoff game on Saturday night.  The coach said he thought it was ridiculous that he had to answer questions about whether Capers would be fired.

Rodgers To Miss Pro Bowl

Aaron Rodgers will miss the Pro Bowl.  The Packers QB announced on his radio show that he failed his physical and will not go to Hawaii and play in the Pro Bowl.  He’s had a nagging ankle injury.  Eli Manning replaces Rodgers on the NFC roster.

NFL Hires

The Chicago Bears have hired Marc Trestman as their new head coach.  He was a long time NFL assistant before going to Canada as the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes where he won two Grey Cup championships.  The Chargers will hire Denver offensive coordinator Mike McCoy as their new head coach.  Former Packers QB Doug Pederson has been named the offensive coordinator in Kansas City.

Badgers Upset  Hoosiers

The Wisconsin Badgers are the lone unbeaten team in Big Ten play after going to Bloomington and knocking off #2 Indiana 64-59 on Tuesday night.  Bucky opened up a 10 point lead mid-way through the 2nd half and saw the Hoosiers cut that lead to one point late before Ryan Evans and Traevon Jackson hit clutch free throw line jumps on back to back possessions to give UW a cushion.   Evans scored 13 points and Jackson added 11 on the night.  UW has won 7 straight and sits at 4-0 in league play.

Bucks Fall To Lakers

The LA Lakers beat the Bucks 104-88 last night on the West Coast.  Dwight Howard had 31 points and 16 rebounds and Kobe Bryant added 31 as well.  Monta Ellis paced the Bucks with 17 points.

Brewers in WBC

Two more Milwaukee Brewers were added to rosters at the World Baseball Classic this spring.  Yovani Gallardo has been added to Team Mexico and catcher Martin Maldonado will play for Puerto Rico.

Four Brewers File For Arbitration

Pitchers John Axford, Brooke Badenhop, and Marco Estrada, and outfielder Carlos Gomez all filed for arbitration on Tuesday.  Axford could be the biggest winner.  He made $525,000 last season and could ask for over $5 million dollars.
