The Wisconsin Badgers Athletic Department sent out a press release on Monday announcing seven newcomers who joined the football program at the start of the 2nd semester.  One of the players on the list was former St. Mary’s Springs All-State linebacker Matt Austin as a preferred walk-on.

The new look NFL Pro Bowl rosters began to take shape as legends Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders began to pick their teams.  Rice selected New Orleans QB Drew Brees with his first pick while Sanders countered with Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles.  They took 11 players each last night with the rest of the roster being selected tonight.  Packers running back Eddie Lacy is still on the board.  You can hear the Pro Bowl on KFIZ Sunday night.  Coverage begins at 6pm.

The NFL is looking at expanding the playoff format.  Sources say the league wants to add two more teams to the mix or one more wild card in each conference.  That would mean 16 total teams would make the postseason with just one team getting a bye.  That would open the door for possibly Friday and Monday night playoff games during the first weekend when six games would be played.

The Campbellsport boys basketball team jumped out to a 12-2 lead on WLA and picked up a 49-42 wire to wire win on Tuesday night.   The Cougars led 18-6 with 2:41 left in the half, but the Vikings went on a 13-3 run to cut the lead to 21-19 at the break.  WLA sliced the lead down to 1 point a few times but could never get over the hump.  C-Sport’s Isaiah Daniels scored 14 of his game high 17 in the 2nd half to lead all scorers.  Jordan Dreikosen added 14.  Mitch McFarlane led WLA with 11 points while Micah Callies added 10.  Campbellsport is now 9-3 on the season while WLA drops to 3-10.
