Sports – Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013

The Brewers blanked the Nationals 4-0 on Tuesday night.  Milwaukee scored all four of their runs in the 8th inning.  The big blow was a two-run double by Juan Francisco.  Martin Maldonado and Jeff Bianchi also knocked in runs for The Crew.  Jim Henderson pitched one scoreless inning to notch the win.  Starter Wily Peralta gave up three hits, struck out five and walked 2 in five and a third innings but settles for a no decision after being forced to leave with a hamstring injury.  Washington starter Stephen Strasburg struck out 8 and gave up just 3 hits in 7 innings and also got a no-decision. The win snapped a six game losing skid for the Brewers.  The series continues tonight as Kyle Lohse gets the start for Milwaukee.  Coverage begins at 4:30pm with the first pitch set for 5:05pm on KFIZ.

 

Braun Update

Brewers left fielder Ryan Braun took some batting practice on Tuesday as he recovers from an ailing right thumb.  Braun says he still has pain in the thumb but its getting better.  He’s currently on the 15-day disabled list.

 

No No For Bailey

Reds pitcher Homer Bailey threw his 2nd no-hitter in 10 months on Tuesday night in a 3-0 win over the Giants. Bailey struck out 9 and walked just one in the no-no.  Back on September 28th, Bailey no-hit the Pirates 1-0.

Bucks Trade

The Milwaukee Bucks have traded guard JJ Redick to the LA Clippers in a sign and trade deal that also included the Phoenix Suns.  Redick signed a four-year, $27 million dollar deal and goes to LA.  The Bucks end up with a pair of 2nd round picks.

 

Howard Free Agent Tour

Free agent big man Dwight Howard continued to visit and talk with NBA teams.  His current team, the LA Lakers along with the Dallas Mavericks had talks with Howard on Tuesday.
