The Badgers arrived in Anaheim on Tuesday in preparations for Thursday night’s West Regional Semifinal against Baylor.  You’ll hear the game on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins Thursday night at 5:30pm with the tip set for 6:47pm.

It appears that VCU’s Shaka Smart is staying at the school and not coming to Marquette as many Milwaukee TV stations reported on Monday.  Smart’s top assistant to the head job at Rice on Tuesday.

The Brewers clubbed four home runs on Tuesday but lost to Giants 5-4.  Starter Wily Peralta hit one of those homers and also gave up just 1 earned run in six innings of work.  Khris Davis, Carlos Gomez, and Martin Maldonado also went deep in the loss.   The Brewers will play the Indians this afternoon.  No radio broadcast.

Ron Roenicke has set his starting rotation for regular season.  Yovani Gallardo will get the start on opening day.  Then it will be Matt Garza, Kyle Lohse, Marco Estrada and Wily Peralta.  The team’s 40 man roster is also set.  Righty Rob Wooten and utility man Elian Herrera were optioned to Triple-A Nashville.  Zach Duke, Tyle Thornburg, and Wei-Chung Wang have won the final roster spots in the bullpen.  Tom Gorzelanny will start the season on the DL.  Rickie Weeks and Scooter Gennett both make the team at 2B as does Mark Reynolds and Lyle Overbay at 1B,  leaving Jeff Bianchi as the only true utility man on the infield.

The Badgers Athletic Department earlier this week announced that head football coach Gary Andersen.  Anderson will make $2.2 million dollars and get a $100,000 raise in each of the five years left on his contract.  The pay increase is not funded by tax or tuition dollars. The Badgers went 9-4 and lost the Capital One Bowl in his debut season in Madison.

One of the NFL’s lead officials announced on Tuesday that the refs would start flagging players that dunk the football over the goal-post after a touchdown.  That change prompted Aaron Rodgers to tweet out his disapproval and wonder if the Lambeau Leap would be banned next.  The NFL says they will not ban the Packers post TD celebration and the dunk is banned because it could cause a delay if the goal post is damaged during the celebration as happened with the Saints Jimmy Graham last season.

Longtime Buffalo Bills owner and one of the founders of the American Football League has died.  Ralph Wilson was 95.

The cold winter weather has once again put a monkey wrench into the high school springs sports season.  Fondy soccer coach Greg Winkler says coaches have to be flexible early in the spring sports season.  The Cardinals are suppose to host Sheboygan North on Tuesday in their season opener but the recent snow may have scrapped that one.   Otherwise on April 8th Kaukauna is a more likely home opener
