Marquette Wins

The Marquette Golden Eagles kept their Big East title hopes alive with a 60-54 win at Rutgers on Tuesday night.  Vander Blue led the way with 22.  Marquette is 22-7 overall and 13-4 in league play.  They trail Georgetown by a half game in the conference.

Phoenix Advance

UW-Green Bay stopped Milwaukee 62-46 in their Horizon League Conference Tournament opener at the Resch Center on Tuesday night.  Alec Brown had 18 points for pace UWGB.  Rob Jeter’s team ends their season at 8-24. The Phoenix improve to 17-14 and will play UIC at Valpo on Friday night.

Hoosiers Fall

Ohio State beat #2 Indiana 67-58 last night in Columbus.  That leaves the Buckeyes a game back of the Hoosiers in the league and Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Michigan all just a game and half out of 1st place.  The Badgers play Michigan State in East Lansing on Thursday night.

Brewers Fall To Canada

Team Canada beat the Brewers 7-4 in a World Baseball Classic tune-up on Tuesday afternoon.  Chris Narveson gave up 1 run and 3 hits in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.   John Axford pitched a perfect 9th inning for Canada to close out the game.  Jim Henderson also took the mound for Canada against his Big League team.  The Brewers play Seattle this afternoon.  You’ll hear the game on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 1:55pm.

Brewers Injuries

It looks like Brewers 3rd baseman Aramis Ramirez will miss 7-10 days with his strained knee.  He was hurt last week sliding into 2nd base.   Pitcher Yovani Gallardo’s groin injury appears to be OK.  The Brewers ace struck out three and walked a pair in one inning of work for Team Mexico against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
