Capers Fine With Aggressive Play
The Green Bay Packers defenders have received their share of questionable personal foul flags over the last few weeks. This past Sunday, CB Davon House was flagged for hitting a Jacksonville receiver who was trying to catch a pass. The replay looked pretty clean and Defensive Coordinator Dom Capers is telling his guys to keep playing aggressive. Capers thinks some of the new rules to protect players may be going a bit over-board. The Packers get back on the practice field today as they get ready for Arizona on Sunday at Lambeau. You’ll hear the game on KFIZ.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded WR Mike Thomas to Detroit for a 2014 5th round pick. The NFL trade deadline was moved to Thursday afternoon because or the storms on the east coast.
Bielema on QB
With Joel Stave out for the season with a broken collar bone, Badger head football coach Brett Bielema will give both Danny O’Brien and Curt Phillips a chance to win the job. UW has the bye on Saturday, both players will get plenty of time with the first unit. The Badgers travel to Indiana on November 10th. A win by Wisconsin will clinch a spot in the Big Ten Championship Game.
No Gold Gloves For Crew
The Brewers won’t have any Gold Glove winners in 2012. Major League Baseball handed out their awards for slick fielding last night. Despite having the best fielding percentage in the National League, 3B Aramis Ramirez was beaten out for the award by the Padres Chase Headley. Ryan Braun was also a finalist in LF but Carlos Gonzalez of Colorado won the award. The Brewers haven’t had a Gold Glove winner since Robin Yount won the award at shortstop back in 1982. Baltimore led the way with 3 Gold Glove winners in the American League, including former Brewer JJ Hardy.
Gasser Stays Positive
Wisconsin Badger point guard Josh Gasser is staying positive even though his season ended on Saturday with a torn ACL at practice. The Port Washington native says he was looking forward to being the team’s point guard this season, but will now try and help the team anyway he can. Gasser says he won’t rush to get back, but will make sure he does he rehab the right way to avoid setbacks. The Badgers first game is next Wednesday when they host UW-Oshkosh at the Kohl Center.
