Waupun Boys placed 1st. Kyle Miller placed 1st individually, with Dylan Pokorny placing 6th. The Waupun Girls placed 2nd overall, with Peyton McGinnis placing 1st individually and Sara Miller 8th.

The Week 7 WisSports.net Coaches Poll was released Tuesday. In the Division 5 poll, Laconia holds steady at number 8 after a win over Mayville and Winnebago Lutheran remains 10th in the rankings following their 20-3 loss to St. Mary’s Springs last Saturday. In Division 6, St. Mary’s Springs remains at the top of the poll with a 7-0 record, and in the 8-man poll, Oakfield holds steady at number 7 following a close win over North Shore Country Day of Illinois.

The Packers return to practice today as preparations continue for the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. Rookie defensive end Dean Lowry says rookies like him need to prepare mentally for a long stretch of games coming up. In college he was used to 12 games, in the NFL you have preseason, regular season and then the possibility of playoffs so it is a longer season.Lowry adds that it’s good to see the Packers rookies stepping up and making plays early on.

The Brewers held their year-end news conference on Tuesday after wrapping up the regular season on Sunday in Colorado. Manager Craig Counsell talked about his goals for this past season, which included exploring young players, developing players and creating competition. Counsell says that despite the positives from the season, the team still has to get better and the team is not satisfied with winning 73 games.

Brewers General Manager David Stearns echoed the thought that the team isn’t satisfied with 73 wins. He adds that in the offseason, he will listen if any team calls about star players like Ryan Braun, but its too early to speculate about any possible trades.

From last night, in the American League Wild Card game. Edwin Encarnacion hit a walk-off three-run home run in the 11th inning to lift the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-2 win over Baltimore. Toronto advances to the ALDS against Texas, that series begins Thursday. Tonight is the NL Wild Card game, as San Francisco visits the New York Mets, as Madison Bumgarner duels with Noah Syndergaard. The winner of tonight’s game advances to a National League Division Series against the Cubs that begins Friday.
