The Brewers lost to the Cubs
7-1 on Tuesday night at Wrigley Field.  Chicago scored 4 times in
the first inning off of Yovani Gallardo and never looked back.  The series wraps up tonight.  Coverage begins at 6:30pm on KFIZ.

 

The team also announced that
Carlos Gomez will miss about a week with a wrist injury.

The Packers head to Seattle today as they get
ready for the NFL opener against the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks on Thursday
night.  You’ll hear the game on News-Talk
1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 5pm on
Thursday night with the kickoff set for 7:30pm.

 

As for the Packers health
heading into Thursday’s opener, center JC Tretter is out with knee injury,
tight end Brandon Bostick (leg injury) and DB Demetri Goodson (concussion) are
the only to players to miss practice. 
Linebacker Brad Jones was a limited participant as he nurses a quad
injury.

It was a weird Tuesday for
the University of
Wisconsin
football
program, specifically at quarterback Badger coach Gary Andersen in a statement
said that backup Joel Stave had been injured and would be out indefinitely.   Later
in the day, Andersen said that Stave wasn’t in fact injured but him being shut
down had more to do with game preparation. 
Tanner McEvoy remains #1 on the QB depth chart with Bart Houston moved
up to #2.  The Badgers host Western

The United States hammered New Zealand 98-71 at the
FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.  Anthony Davis led Team USA with 21
points as they improved to 3-0 for the tournament.  The Americans play the Dominican Republic today and then Ukraine on
Friday before moving on to the Round of 16.

 

Ryder Cup Captain Tom Watson
has picked Keegan Bradley, Hunter Mahan, and Webb Simpson as his wild card
picks for the event later this month in Scotland.

St. Mary’s Springs went 1-1 at the Lake Country Lutheran
Triangular.  The Ledgers stopped Martin
Lutheran 3-1 and lost to Lake Country Lutheran 3-0.  Kelli Schrauth had 19 total kills on the
day.  Lauren McGalloway had 31 digs over
the 2 matches.

 

The
WLA girls volleyball team fell at Berlin
3-2.  Mariah
Jahns had 16 assists.

Alysha Kahlow had 6 kills , Megan Herkstroeter had 8 kills
and 6 blocks, Shelby Zuelke had 6 kills and 7 blocks to pace the Vikings.

C-Sport Cross Country

The Campbellsport boys cross country team tied for first place
with St. Lawrence Seminary in the WLA Viking Invite last night.  The meet
was held at the UW-Fond du Lac Campus.  When you tie they use the sixth
runner to break the tie.  St. Lawrence was awarded first place because
their 6th runner finished faster than the Cougars 6th.  CHS had four
runners in the top 10.  Casey Ruplinger finished 7th, Levi Feucht 8th,
Chase Lindgren 9th, and Tyer Beres 10th. The Cougar girls varsity did not have
a complete team.  Toni Hundertmark was the top Cougar runner in 12th
place.
