Day four of the sturgeon spearing season was a slow one – with only 10 fish registered throughout the day Tuesday. Seven of the fish were speared on the upriver lakes, with three on Lake Winnebago. Kenneth Roberts of Oxford, Wisconsin had the largest fish of the day – his sturgeon weighed in at 119.3 pounds and was 75.7 inches long and was speared on the upriver lakes. Matthew Michaels of Cochrane, Wisconsin had the largest fish on Lake Winnebago Tuesday, with a sturgeon that was just over 63 pounds and 65 inches long. The DNR anticipates more spearers will be out tomorrow with better weather in the forecast, so all 10 registration stations will once again be open on Wednesday.
