Sturgeon Report – Day 7: 2/15/19

We are now through one full week of the sturgeon spearing season after day seven came to a close on Friday. A total of 31 fish were registered Friday, with 17 coming from Lake WInnebago and 14 from the upriver lakes. Through the first seven days, 224 fish have been harvested from Lake Winnebago and 246 fish from the upriver lakes, for a total of 470 sturgeon. Two sturgeon weighing over 100 pounds were speared on Friday. Michael Matysik of Rosholt had a 115 pound, 77 inch long sturgeon that he registered at Indian Point, while Kate Stuck of Menasha had a 112 pound, 74 inch long sturgeon. Stuck registered her fish at Waverly Beach.
