UWO among Five UW System Schools Suspending Sports on Two Year Access Campuses in 2020-21

The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh has joined four other
UW System schools in announcing a temporary suspension of athletics at their
two-year access campuses for the 2020-2021 school year.

In a news release sent out Tuesday, UW-Oshkosh along with
UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, UW-Stevens Point and UW-Platteville announced the
suspension of college sports on the access campuses for the upcoming school
year, citing “additional challenges of facility cleaning and disinfecting,
providing athletic trainers and other logistical issues posed by the current
coronavirus pandemic.”

University officials say 29 students at the UWO Fond du Lac
campus competed in three collegiate sports last academic year, while 41
students at the UWO Fox Cities campus participated in four sports last year. Student
athletes at the two-year access campuses compete in the Wisconsin Collegiate
Conference.

No information was provided on the status of college sports
for the upcoming academic year at the main UW-Oshkosh campus.
